Sombrero's Restaurant — Restaurant in Fond du Lac

Off to a great start: kind greeting, quick seating, and prompt start of service. With 3 small children (1 being an infant) it’s not common for them to eat a full restaurant plate meal. That said, we often only order at restaurants what they’ll actually eat versus the over-ordering in excess. We were told it was policy for a $3/extra plate regardless of who eats from what plate. I told them I respect their policy, but when I asked if there were additional options preventing ordering of extra meals, my only option was to purchase extra meals/sides. When I said thank you for your help, but we are going to find a different spot for dinner tonight, I was told “sorry we don’t meet your high expectations.” Seemingly rude, I didn’t intend to imply dissatisfied nor did I expect to receive a rude comment. Will never eat here again. Food was very bland and not very good. Husband and I both got sick that night. I am pregnant so went to the dr after speaking with the nurse and waited for when she said to go in. Was told by the owner Beth that I didn't react well to the spiciness, because I'm pregnant. Which is not the case. It wasn't even spicy. Then was told that when she was pregnant, she would have gone to the dr right away after getting sick. I informed her that I spoke with the nurse several times before they told me to come in, but how disrespectful and unprofessional. Was told that there was nothing she could do except give us a $10 gift card to come back. All I wanted was the money back from the burrito and fajita nachos. Not the drinks or anything else. Will never go back...

I honestly forgot about this place. It's tucked over by the plasma place. I happened to go down that way before work, stopped, ordered some rice and salsa and chips. Had a Mt. Dew at the bar while waiting for the food. Cooked super fast, I had some time to open it up and eat some at the bar. Bar tender/waitress was really nice. She listened to me complain about my job before I left (and headed to work lol) I'll definitely go back again, just need to remember it's there. Great food though. Maybe needs more...
