So I came to this location before 11:30 when they open and it had a few folks in line. When I got in I ordered a oxtail plate that came with rice in a bowl with the lid I also ordered a three pieces of red snapper. The oxtails came with two sides I got yams and greens and the meal came with a cornbread muffin. I paid $45 for all of that no drink. Worst food I ever ate. And it's black boy Joy in the kitchen so I was real confused. First of all there is barely any seasonings in this food. And I understand that because some people are diabetic and have high blood pressure but the flavors was not there no onion no bell pepper used in the greens no meat no nothing. The fish was very fishy crunchy yes but the fish itself just did not taste fresh or like it was good like it's just was on the edge of beginning to go bad very fishy taste. The oxtail bowl was so greasy and full of oily juice. I have to pour some out and them oxtails was tender but they had no flavor on them it was very sad that such an expensive meat didn't get no good flavor to it. And the rice was just soaked up with the oily juice. But the worst of all was the yams. No season and no cinnamon no butter no nutmeg I even went back and got another think of your answers I thought it couldn't been right. And I had a hard bit in there so I exchanged and they easily gave me another serving of yams no problem the waitress is so kind everybody is so nice the food just is not good for the amount that they given let me have was awful not a liquor cinnamon vanilla butter the juice was watery the gowns was yellow they wasn't even golden it's like they was cooked on a stove they was mush and hard at the same time I don't know how they got that texture just very disappointing overall...
Read moreWhen I entered the establishment I was greeted with a smile and my service was semi-pleasant, let’s just say they weren’t too ecstatic to see me. I read a lot of reviews online about Rocs, and after eating the food I wasn’t pleased. I ordered the fish and shrimp combo plate. The best part about the meal were the french fries. The mac & cheese tasted just like my grandma used to make......after sitting in the refrigerator for about a month. I bought two plates, one for myself and one for my coworker and she wanted to give me all the rest of her food. She says that the fish tasted old, the shrimp had no flavor, just the corn meal on it. Not that it wasn’t cooked right, it just didn’t have flavor and the hush puppies were very dry. This is just our honest opinion I was going to rate it a 2.7 but my coworker gave them a one so that’s how we ended up with two stars. Would I go back there? no. The food was edible it was just lacking flavor for my coworker and myself.
Updated review 12/2024: the review I wrote was about a place called ROCS. Soon after my review this place closed down. Then a new restaurant reopened (I don’t know if it’s the same or new owners ) called Louisiana fried chicken and seafood. I have not eaten there but my Son ate there recently in 12/2024 My Son said it was good and he rated it a 3.5 outta 5 stars. He said the macaroni and cheese could’ve used a little bit more cheese. The hush puppies were good but a little dry, and the chicken that he got...
Read moreThis place isn't bad if you're hankering for some southern food and can't make the drive out to more well known food.
I had the chicken and shrimp plate with some collard greens and mac and cheese. The chicken is cornmeal heavy chicken strips, so you get more breading than juicy protein. The shrimp was good with the home-made tartar sauce, but that had a thick coat of meal too. Mac and cheese was smooth and cheesy, but it almost bordered on being mushy. For the collard greens, each bite was good when you could fish it out of the watery brine. In general, I wish there could be more substance to each component, instead of filler breading and collard green juice.
The rest of the menu looks tasty, and I would want to give this place a second chance. They have decent priced jambalaya and Po Boys, so hopefully that will be better.
Improving their website for ordering would also be good. I tried ordering twice on one day. It took my order and credit card, yet the verification screen that followed just spun and told me they were too busy to verify the order. No one answered the phone when I called. I was lucky enough to be driving by the place one day, so I finally walked in to verify the place...
