We have had a rough time trying new restaurants the last couple of months, especially when it comes to sports bars. I had heard about this chain previously and meant to try it, but never did. When we heard one would be opening up in Fontana just a few minutes away we were excited! We took the family there for lunch on a Sunday. Not a huge place. It was very clean and littered with televisions and sports decor. Comfy atmosphere. The staff seems very nice and helped us find a table. You can tell the staff is still getting a hang of the menu and the operations side, but we're friendly and helpful nonetheless. We ordered pizza fries as an appetizer and they were a hit. Seasoned fries with mozzarella, chunks of pepperoni and italian sausage. It seems better than just a sum of it's parts, and damn, was it good, especially with marinara. My wife got the pork sliders which were tasty, but needed some sauce on the side and my son got the kids popcorn chicken. Everything was fresh and tasty. My daughter ordered a small pepperoni pizza and it was delicious. This will be a place where we likely order pizzas to go from in the future. I ordered the Tequila Chicken on a recommendation from our waitress. Spinach pasta in a butter cream sauce with chunks of marinated chicken, lime and perfectly cooked peppers and onions. I cried. Not because of the transcendental experience, but it was pretty spicy. The dish was great though. Could've upgraded the crescent roll that came with it though. Overall, the food is good because it's fresh and balanced. This is not a place where you will find a chef in the kitchen serving up cutting edge cuisine, but a place that amplifies dishes you would find at a sports bar. And it's well done. It has a nice outside area with fire pits and tables ready to let you enjoy a drink while watching the sunset against the beautiful mountain range. I enjoyed Oggi's and am glad it's only a few minutes from our house. I hope to see it continue to grow, because the in-house brew is impressive. If the place can keep it's charm, stay clean and keep wanting to delight their customers with the warm welcome you'll recieve, this place will flourish. I would love to see them take it up a notch and bring in an actual chef and do a seasonal menu on top of their pizzas and sports-bar fare. That's my dream place. It's all about the food though and when you leave a place thinking only about the food it tells you all the other technicalities fell in line. They have a chance to really take over a relatively dissapointing food area with Boston's, no thanks, and some forgettable Mexican and Asian cuisine spots close by. They got started on the right foot, now it's up to them to run with it or let it go to their head and turn into another overhyped sports bar (Boston's). Good luck Oggi's. I'm rooting for you.
Update: We went back and tried Oggi's again yesterday and the food was a little hit and miss. We ordered two pizzas. One margherita and one barbecue chicken style pizza. The barbecue pizza was pretty good, but was really heavy on barbecue sauce and the chicken tasted like marinated style chicken that didn't blend well with the pizza. The margherita pizza was a huge dissapointment. The only place I'll ever order a margherita pizza is Grazzianos because it's amazing. This one was so bland and the oversized cuts of tomato were undercooked and it had clumps of garlic on it throughout that ruined it. The crust itself is really good, but needs to be seasoned. One of the worst pizzas I have had in a long time. Although it was a dissapointment, we had some good drinks and a delicious salad. We'll be back, but likely not...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible experience. Upon arriving at the restaurant on a cool Saturday night we were seated by a very polite and sweet waitress who asked us for our drinks and I myself ordered a coke. The coke was a great standard coke: fizzy, sweet, and deliciously chilled and was great while I waited for my food. While waiting for my food, I absorbed the atmosphere and it was quite nice. People were cheering for the sports teams on the TV and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Very chill vibes and I enjoyed the time there with my family. We had some chips and salsa while waiting for our main dishes and I have to say it was quite delectable. The salsa had a nice tomatoey taste with a sharp jalapeñoey punch to it that keep me satisfied while waiting for my food. For my main dish, I had ordered the baked potato pizza and let me tell you I was beyond glad I had decided to order this pizza instead of what I was originally going to get. Upon the baked potato pizza being placed on our table I knew I was in for a treat. An incredibly immaculate sight, the pizza was blessed with the touch of God with its deliciously savory blend of 4 cheeses, topped with crumbled bacon, crunchy chives that really added a kick to the pizza, flavorful sour cream, a pretzel like bread crust, and best of all covered all in wonderfully crispy potato wedges. Each bite I took of this pizza felt like I was entering heaven for a second as my serotonin levels went through the roof as I consumed this godsend of a dish that sent me to cloud nine for the whole time I was there. I really could not get enough, but I was full after two slices after I also had their perfectly crisp french fries. After eating my main course I had ordered a brownie and it came covered it chocolate syrup, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. It was rich, chocolatey and gooey. Never have I felt so happy and joyful from eating food alone. I am absolutely in love with the food there to the point of actually almost feeling a romantic connection to the food. I am going to have dreams about the food and am going to gorge the three slices of baked potato pizza left in the refrigerator first thing in the morning. 10/10 experience would definitely recommend the baked potato pizza and I am definitely coming back here...
Read moreI was so glad that they were empty in V-day! They saw us quickly and seated us outside. It was unfortunately freezing and then our waitress was nice enough to seat us inside after we asked because the hostess wasn't accommodating. I will start with the fish tacos, they were yummy but could use a chipotle sauce, or any to give it some more flavor other than coleslaw. The beans were extremely dry, I have never had beans that dry in my life. The chips had nothing to dip it in so that was disappointing. The chicken Alfredo was delicious, the chicken was dry but the sauce made a difference. The chicken tequila pasta was good, the noodles had a great flavor but the chicken was also dry. The Shrimp Angel hair pasta was delicious. The sauce was very creamy and had a nice small spicy kick to it. Definitely recommend this plate! The beer braised short ribs were not good. The meat itself was good but the sauce poured over it was too salty and it ruined the plate. The mashed potatoes under it were good and the steamed veggies had no flavor (no salt or butter) Not pictured is my son's mini sliders. They were good, they originally brought them bloody and not fully cooked. They were nice enough to take them off the bill and bring out a new order. The fries were golden crispy and delicious! The watermelon drink was explained by the waitress to be spicy and sweet but it was more of a sweet and bitter taste. It was alright. Wouldn't recommend it. Had a great customer service experience in the back, could work on a friendlier service by...
