LEFTOVERS!! Very disappointing with the service that I received. On Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 5:30 PM, I stopped and grab some dinner at the Tio's Mexican restaurant in Fontana. I ordered the carnitas dinner and to my disappointment the meat was very blend, no seasoning, it had no flavor and no tenderness. It was very DRY. I called the very next morning to speak to a manager to let them know. However I was told that Lorena, the manager would not be available that day.
I left all of my information with the employee and was told I would get a call back. Well, after 2 days and several messages later, I decided to walk into the restaurant. Mariana greeted me, I explained my issue and to my surprise, they had no knowledge of my messages. All I was asking for was to be made whole for the disappointment of my order. I did not ask for my $22.17 refund. I would have accepted a replacement meal. Unfortunately I was not given either!
Saturday morning I receive a voice message from Lorena. When I called her back, I introduced myself and right away she stated, "Your name is very familiar to me. I remember speaking to you before." I said, "I've never spoken to you before. We just moved to the area." She stated (in a bothersome tone) Yes! I remember talking to you a while ago. What can I do for you?"
Her tone and attitude upset me and I knew this conversation was not going to be heard in good faith. After explaining the issue, Lorena chastised me for not calling the very same day. She insulted my judgement of deciding to go to sleep after a long day of work and calling the very next morning. By her own admission, Lorena explained that it is impossible that the Carnitas would have been dried and not tasteful because she marinades, seasons, and cooks it herself and they are SERVED FOR 2 DAYS and no one complains about it. I explained to her well perhaps I got the serving from the second day and it was not fresh since by her own admission, they serve the meat for 2 days straight. Lorena obviously got mad and refused to refund or replace my meal. At this point, after having been told they serve leftovers, I don't want any food from...
Read moreWell, brand new place. This is not Tio's anymore...now it's MoVal BBQ. First review. Friendly owner that has the right intentions. This is the place to go too if you are looking for inexpensive BBQ. Now please don't get me wrong, sauces and all are a taste thing so opinions might differ but i really liked the BBQ sauce he puts on his meats. Thin, not super thick and not overpowering. Flavor is also pretty good. The meat is a hit and miss. I really liked the chicken and pork ribs. Really good stuff. Beef ribs were also not Bad but i had better. Brisket was not good at all. It was hard to pull it apart with just my hands. Very tough. Nice smoke ring but just Soo tough. Flavor was pretty neutral. But i will give it another try some day. It's so difficult right now during this covid pandemic to find good and consistent suppliers. Sausage links were ok as well. We also tried all the sides and they were ok. Unfortunately none of the salads, beans and other sides are just store bought and not made in the restaurant. For example, the macaroni salad is the generic one you can purchase at walmart or smart & final. Bottom line is: if you are looking for a great place to have inexpensive BBQ this is the one to go too. BBQ is not the best but for it's location and all it's pretty good. It's also a new place and probably needs a bit more time to get dialed in. It is really hard to leave an all around review for a BBQ restaurant because opinions and taste butts are so different. I recommend going there. It's not a pretty looking place but the owner is super cool and tries hard. He definatly has BBQ experience and for the price he charges i have...
Read moreFinally visit this place for the first and last time, it's dine in, however you order like if it's to go, you have to wait for your drinks and the girl at the cashier said they'll take us the food which it was fine with me not a big deal, my young child 1 yr old and husband were there as well so once we sat down in asked the waitress if I could have a high chair for my son, he response was : (as she pointed on the direction) "they're over there, you can get them yourself" I was in shock for a moment, then once food got there it added up to my disappointment list, it was tasteless, I got a Chile relleno and beef enchilada, the Chile relleno was still cold from the inside and still had the frozen flavor (well at least that one had a flavor lol) I was very very disappointed, I own a catering/event planning company so I definitely know the importance of good quality food, I'm not the one to write bad reviews and I love to contribute to the growth of small businesses but far from a bad review this could be a learning experience, place is beautiful I just think may be some adjustments to the recipes or maybe just a little more training on the staff greetings or at least having contact with customers should help tremendously, this place has so much potential to be a great hit if...
