Terrible experience there this evening. I have been a regular customer of theirs for years along with many other Mexican restaurants in the area. I called them last night to make reservations for a party of 19. The manger told me there was no need for a reservation that they had plenty of tables to sit us. I then said again to make sure he heard me that there were 19 of us and we would like to sit together it is a special dinner for my daughter. He interrupted me and was clearly aggravated and said, yes yes I hear, 19, call 30 mins before you get here. I said thank you to a dead line. He had hung up on me. So I call the next evening an hour before we were to be there and talked with a nice younger gentleman that said yes we have your table ready. So we get there and there is another party going on. No big deal. The young man was courteous and said we will get your party seated when they are done. Fine, I had no problem waiting. Then the manager comes over and says ,what do want me to do about it.? Points to the other people and says, “They called last week.” I said , “well nothing I’m not mad. We don’t mind waiting,” He then goes on to ask what was the name under. I said “you never ask for my name. You just told me to call 30 mins ahead of our arrival.” . I won’t repeat everything he said, this is already too long. But long story shortened, he was beyond rude and jumped all over me like i was the one mad. I only did exactly what he told me to do and was chastised for it like i was an idiot. He was a complete ahole. I will absolutely NEVER go back there again. Not that they care but they lost 19 customers today and me for life. Reading other low reviews I see this is that man’s nature to be rude. I called mi pubs across the street and they said to come now and they sat us all and we’re nice, courteous as usual. My mistake was not going there in the...
Read moreFinally, decent Mexican food in Forest City! The inexplicably popular Mi Pueblito (Gruel for Gringos, we call it), can only be because the unfortunate citizens of this quiet little backwater have never been exposed to real Mexican food. Before the opening of Don Ramon's, we drove to Columbus, NC, the closest real Mex we have been able to find since moving here. The first time we went, I had the chili verde, which is always my standard by which my Mexican restaurant's are gauged. If you can do a good chili verde, I'm yours. Don Ramon's passed with flying colors! It was out of the kitchen in a flash! Unbelievably fast! The CV was hot, verde sauce very spicy, thank you for not being afraid to give hicks real spice, it was not toned down for the local palate, thank goodness! The pork was obviously slow cooked, the way it should be, with some browned, roasted edges. Served with tortilla. Perfection! The servers are friendly. The restaurant is lovely, nicely decorated, large, with plenty of booth seating. We are so happy Don Ramon's came to town. I hope they are able to survive in the local depressed economy. We are certainly going to do our part to help them stay...
Read moreMy family and i was sat under the ac vents, when the vent dripping on my family and i a work approached laughing that it dripped condensation on us. Then our food came and the condensation dripped in our food (ac vents are full of bacteria, dust particles & etc). When i approach a worker an older man, he began blaming me for it being a problem. He then ask what should he do to fix it i responded saying i don’t work ok ac’s I’m not sure but i wouldn’t sit people under it. The man then yelled his costumers will sit there if they have too and i can’t tell him how to run his business. All I’m saying is if something like this happened and i owned a restaurant i wouldn’t sit good paying customers under the vent where bacteria water can drip into their food and get them sick. It’s ridiculous I’m having to get on here and give them a bad review, had they handled this situation differently and not got a attitude and yell at a customer trying to enjoy there meal i wouldn’t have done this. My family will not eat...
