We stayed here fairly recently on a two night adventure to see Rare Of Breed in concert in Mill Spring as we're from Virginia and it was a 6-hour drive to this location. The only good thing I really can say about this location is the staff is very friendly and attentive and the beds were comfortable yet slightly firm. Also the building was well lit which I see as being necessary due to all the what I noticed to be drug transactions as it got dark and throughout the night as the sketchy people seem to come out and come around. The room itself was on a corner and you can tell this is a stick built building with no form of sound dampening insulationing in the wall. To say the least half the cars that came through here seem to be missing their mufflers and did not look roadworthy but I guess they don't have inspections in North Carolina so that is to be expected. With that being said every time a vehicle came by you could hear in the room and you could hear the people above us as well as people coming down the stairs which was a inconvenience and not something were typically used to. The biggest problem I have which is a ultimate never go back problem is they had a hefty roach infestation which I included pictures of the few that I could get in time. We don't have roaches in our house and do not plan on having any there in the future and this caused us to take all of our luggage out the first night and just leave it in our vehicle. I brought this to the front desk attention at checkout and they told me they were aware of it which surprises me that they would even allow anybody to occupy these spaces until they have it professionally treated and bombed. I'm not one to make a scene but I am one to share my opinion online which hopefully they will resolve if not they're going to lose a lot of customers and probably be reported. Their response to me was there aware of it which didn't make sense as to why they even allowed me in that room or any others for that matter or waste my money there as I would have gone elsewhere. Their excuse was that FEMA is giving out free hotel room stays of some form because of the hurricane and that the people that were coming there brought them with them which I find hard to believe because that was relatively recent and these are all in the wall which takes quite a bit of time to get to that point. The building was very well lit as said earlier but I can see why with the interactions going on in the evening which didn't stop a single bit of it. If you stay here I would suggest bringing a gun and some earplugs and leave all your luggage outside or go elsewhere and only use this place in a pinch. As for the facility itself it's not that bad although there was some crappy patch jobs done to the right of the sink near the bathroom that they look like Johnny backyard did that had no idea what he was doing and they painted right over it which looks horrible as well as the bathroom door on the top right about a foot down from the top you could see in the bathroom the entire way through a gap. The facility was clean minus the infestation which cause me to overlook everything that was decent about the place. This is probably one of those places that nothing's going to be done about it and they'll make excuses about it until corporate gets involved as they should because it is a bad image...
Read moreSince COVID, this hotel has been using a very inefficient & very impersonal kiosk check-in system in lieu of a human desk clerk. Finding a person at the front desk is about as likely as a Sasquatch sighting--and the one time I did encounter a real person at the desk during check-in, she directed me to use the kiosk.||We refuse to book this hotel again following our two most recent experiences with security deposit non-refunds. The hotel changed us a $50 per room, purportedly refundable, security deposit which was charged to our card at the time of check-in. Immediately after check-out, the refunds showed up as pending transactions on our credit card activity detail. However, in both instances, they were never processed and disappeared about 10 days later, leaving me to play Monkey in the Middle between the hotel and the bank. The hotel insists the refunds were issued. The bank insists they were cancelled by the hotel before they could be processed. Both parties refuse to interface directly with the other--and Wyndham refuses to get involved in all pricing disputes until all lower-level due diligence has been exhausted by the guest without a resolution and the case has been escalated fairly high up the management chain. Then, and only then, did I receive an obviously coerced e-mail from the franchise owner insisting that he had followed protocol and offering us an insulting 10% discount on our next stay for the inconvenience. In fairness, we did eventually get all of our security deposits duly refunded, but frankly, life is just too short and my time is just too valuable to repeatedly have to put up with the same hassle...
Read moreI've stayed in more hotels/motels than I can remember and this is hands-down the worst experience I've ever had. When we arrived, there was some kind of hair on the sheets, either dog or human, not sure. Then we find out about the $100 deposit and upfront charges. In my entire life I've never had a hotel charge a card for payment upfront, let alone a deposit. This was a huge red flag and we should have left immediately. There were roaches in the room and the carpet looked like it was 50 years old. This place is not worth half the price they're charging for stay. Barely one day into the stay the hotel lost water due to frozen pipes. The frozen pipes isn't their fault, but how they respond to issues like this most certainly is. The problem is that the hotel staff abandoned the guests. No offer to help. No offer to bring bottled water. No offer for a referral to other hotels (which we found out that some hotels in the area were doing all of these things). They just ghosted us and left the guests in the hands of the automated kiosk, which was utterly useless. We couldn't even flush the toilets! When we finally left we were offered a 40% refund, but a week later when it finally came, the refund only showed about 25% refund. No use in calling to ask about it, I know they...
