The Soul of Michoacan — Restaurant in Forest City

Pros: -good portion size and lots of meat on the La Favorita -salsa bar with delicious options. My favorite was the pineapple salsa!

Cons: I don't know if it was a staffing issue, service issue, or something else, but when we went on July 3rd, it was a struggle from the start. We waited at the host stand for 10 minutes without being addressed. Once we got a table, menu, chips, and salsa, it was another 15 minutes before we got drinks ordered and then 3 reminders before I got mine. From the time we sat down until someone came to take our order, it was about 45 minutes and 3 baskets of chips. Another 30-40 minutes later, the food came out, again missing my meal and having to remind the server. Another wait in line to check out stretched our dinner to almost 2 hours.

The staff was constantly moving, and you could see they were working hard, so there are more issues than that as it just was not efficient. At that time, everyone was being given plastic knife and fork packs, and one of our meals was served on a very chipped plate. Other guests were also complaining about long wait times. We are from out of town and came with family who said their first experience at this restaurant was great, so I'm hoping this was just...

This was one of my favorite places and we have always received great service but today I was met with a rude waitress who asked if I needed more time and when I replied yes I received the biggest eye roll I’ve ever seen and we were one of two tables there at the time. I’m not sure what her rush was… Maybe she just had a bad day but I just don’t understand being rude to paying customers for needing a few more minutes as a Mother with a five year old, two year old, expecting another with other littles at the table sometimes we have to figure out what everyone is wanting before we can even look for ourselves. We don’t go out much and let’s be real everything is expensive these days if I’m going to spend money it’s definitely not going to be somewhere that I feel rushed. I met her with more grace then she gave me which is saying a lot for this pregnant Mama who definitely had her hands full today I will not be returning for a while....

Went to eat with my daughter. I ordered grilled fish tacos. The fish was crumbled, dry, oily, and flavorless. There was a ton of it on the tacos though. My daughter got ACP and didn’t finish it, because she said that it really wasn’t good at all.

I’m usually pretty forgiving, especially with Mexican food. This was not good at all. We got there right after it opened, but the fish seemed like it was left over from the previous night. The place was empty, but they sat everyone that came in directly around us instead of spacing them out. It felt really awkward.

The menu was also not very well laid out. It was laid out by meat type instead of dish type. For instance, under steak you had steak tacos, but under that you had the option for five different types of other meats....
