Mainland Restaurant — Restaurant in Forestville

This will be my first review ever. I may read them, but never written one BEFORE TODAY.

I use to attend Bishop McNamara High School, just across the street from this establishment. So we gave this carry out LOTS of business throughout my four years and then some. I now live in this area so I still occasionally go to Mainland on junk food days/nights.

It seems like every time I go in there or call, the lady at the front that handles everything, is a REAL PROBLEM. I've probably went there at least 5 times this year alone and it's the same thing. RUDE on the phone, RUDE in person. And trust me, I understand that the lady there may have had some unruly customers....but how about you act that way when someone gives you a reason.

Last night, was THE LAST TIME I WILL EVER give this business any of my time and money. I simply called, started my order and in the middle of ordering, she put me on hold, that was fine. When she came back, I simply said "hi" and continued my order. SHE THEN yells and rebukes me and says "HI, DON'T HI ME, I KNOW WHO YOU ARE, TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT!" This is something very small, but I had enough of her and her disrespect towards me. I should've left many reviews after each time I visited this place, but I didn't. The food is really good, but I rather drive a little further into the city to get some REAL carryout food instead of this leftover, microwaving, dirty doors and counter tops, stingy ass mumbo sauce giver (EVEN WHEN I SAID I'LL PAY EACH TIME) ass place!

I know this is how she makes her living, but she DOESN'T need to work the phones nor the front desk, BECAUSE SHE'S RUDE! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WHAT SO EVER! TAKE A WORKSHOP - I HOST PLENTY! That's the only way you will survive in your position.

I read plenty of people giving GREAT REVIEWS, but if I asked each one of them, "how was the service", I'm 100% sure that they'll say "yea, the service was horrible, but I'm glad I got my food". We have to STOP supporting businesses, especially from different cultures/ethnicity's that don't RESPECT US! They're in OUR neighborhood and we accept their disrespect constantly.

So I'll be the first to say "YOU KNOW WHAT, NO THANK YOU, I"LL CALL A BETTER CARRYOUT THAT KNOWS HOW TO TREAT/SPEAK TO THEIR #1 CUSTOMER, HAVE A BLESS...

My how things change.

I ordered two (2) dishes that contained shrimp. In both dishes, the shrimp were mushy, like the consistency of mashed potatoes. Against my better judgement, I called and advised the quality of the dishes. The woman was apologetic and offered the opportunity to remake the order.

I went in and the woman at the counter, the same that took my order the previous day, was aware of the situation and asked if I wanted another selection (Demeanor was not cordial). I opted for one different dish-both containing shrimp.

I am thoroughly disgusted and completely grossed out as the texture of the shrimp was the same and what is worse is finding shrimp tail, as well as some things I am unable to identify. There was hair that is not my length or texture.

I trusted that MAINLAND would make things right and because of my belief, I am experiencing consequences: I am nauseated and experiencing other discomforts. I really should had left well enough alone and took the loss.

The quality has dropped and I question sanitation and integrity.

PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST!

I called in a order for pick up it was a small order so the lady that answered to me was rude rushed me thru putting in my order each order i put in i paused for a second to make sure she got it cause she didn't respond so i said hello she then says ok ok i been here for 40 years menu the same just go head it was her tone undertone that bothered me when i go to pick up food she seemed short irritated so I'm a stickler about customer service i feel you don't rush ppl or even sarcastic remarks about how long you been there i don't know that and i don't know your menu has been the same so just thought it was rude it was a turn off food was mediocre i won't be giving my monies to ppl who are disrespectful they gotta do better I know theirs cultural differences but just because you been there for 40 yrs doesn't mean you gotta be rude 😒 smh i don't know who they're use to dealing but customer service horrible and the place was old and nasty looking inside last time smh they either make improvements on all levels or just shut it down wonder how they even past inspections with the way...
