Absolutely Fabulous...........Service, Food and Family
We tried La Perla Tapatia today for lunch after finding it online at lehighvalleyonline and were thrilled. Marianne was wonderful and went through the menu with us one item at a time explaining in detail not only what each item was comprised of but also how it was prepared. After bringing us samples of their home made waters we opted for the Rice Water as it was so refreshingly tasty and cold. We spoke for a while and were thrilled to discover all food was prepared fresh in a family style kitchen where all members of the staff were indeed family.
While eating our choices of Chicken Empanada to start we decided on a recommended Pork Flauta (not on the menu) and Tacos (Adoba, Barbacoa and Al Pastor). All were served hot and fresh with a nice authentic display on the plate. Portions were a nice surprise for the price, large and filling.
To my surprise the chef came out whom we met briefly and the turned the TV channel over to European Soccer (being Irish I was thrilled as he had heard me ask about soccer games being it is a Mexican establishment). We discovered that the do show the soccer games and we could request a channel change to wee whatever game was being shown at the time.
Definitely will become a regular for us and a place to bring the children to watch BIG soccer games away from a bar type atmosphere.
Thank you Marianne and family for a wonderful experience and see you all...
Read moreWhat a fantastic find! We went here the other day simply by luck.
It was small but very welcoming. This is a family owned business with family recipes and was really a wonderful experience. Everything is made to order.
The barbacoa tacos were highly recommended by Marianna whose recipe is used for it, and they were the favorite over the steak tacos. As I tend to do, I check put pork dishes at every Spanish restaurant I go to before anything else. The carnitas were chunks of pork rather than Shredded which has always been my experience up until now. The meat was tender and not over cooked, flavor was good, but gentle in flavor. The burrito was fantastic and huge - literally the size of my daughter's arm.
The service was so pleasant, Marianna made us feel so extremely welcome, as if we had been friends for years.
The atmosphere was clean and simple. I'd love to see something like a few family photos of them cooking or something like that mixed in with some decor that played into the Mexican heritage that they are so very proud of there. We learned there's only 2 items on the menu that aren't true Mexican style and those are Tex-Mex in style.
This has now moved up to our favorite local mexican place, and we...
Read moreOk I don't usually write views especially about small businesses because I do like to support small businesses. I came to this restaurant today because my wife was itching to try it so I brought her here. Upon arrival everyone was very friendly until my wife went to the restroom after she came out another women went in and found 20.00 dollars on the floor my wife had dropped the 20.00 bill in the restroom and spoke up and said it was hers. The owner questioned my wife several times quote on quote is it yours are you sure. Why would she lie about that I came to support your business don't need to lie about 20 measly dollars. The subliminal comments did not stop there upon receiving our check the owner said quote hope all was good today please leave a good tip since you already took my other one in reference to the 20.00 once again. Like I said I don't write reviews unless I truly feel a type a way that was really rude and I will not be returning again. what a shame food was good and so was the employees but the owner needs to learn how to respect...
