I was so excited when I saw this place. I was looking forward to a hot burger and fresh fries. I am so disappointed instead.
From the start, the employees were generally unhappy and seemed like they would rather be elsewhere. That's fine. This isn't a table service place, it's a burger place. As long as the food is good, that's fine. I ordered a Texas Chili Burger meal and my wife ordered the chicken salad.
Their sweet tea was okay at best, but again, I came for the food. Thirty minutes later, we received our food. Let's start with my wife's salad. The chicken was cold. The cheese had been melted on, so we suspect it was just sitting there long enough to be just slightly warm. The carrots were exceedingly old and the black olives tasted funny. She did not eat more than a couple bites. Finally on to my meal. You may recall I said I was looking forward to a hot burger and fresh fries. With a chili burger, that's an additional thing that should be hot. The chili was cold. The burger was cold. The fries were at room temperature. I have had fries under a heat lamp for hours that were hotter and tasted better. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I see no reason anyone should ever eat here. I would say any fast food burger place could do better. The only credit I can give is the vegetables on the burger appeared fresh and the bun was not stale.
And last but not least, they overcharged me as...
Read moreThe food was actually pretty good. I didn’t walk in expecting much, considering the mixed reviews on Google. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the one star reviews did not apply to my experience. My burger, the “double double“, was made with fresh vegetables, and a good bun. While it wasn’t the best burger I have ever eaten, it was not a bad burger by any means. It had flavor, and was not overcooked. The fries were obviously restaurant-style bulk, but they were not greasy or soggy. Everything was served hot. The restaurant itself was relatively clean, and the country style decor is nice. The one star I have taken off was for the service. The counter girl made us wait several minutes while she finished a cleaning task. She was terribly unfamiliar with the menu items, and even after confirming which of us ordered which plate, she still put the wrong plate down in front of us. If they replaced her with someone more comfortable in the food service industry, it would be a better experience. I feel like they’re missing an opportunity by not serving milkshakes or any type of dessert. It looks like the ice cream parlor in their shopping center has gone out of business, so hopefully they reconsider...
Read moreI stopped here to get some dinner to bring home. The place was empty and a little too dark for my liking. In all fairness, however, I am from the northeast and not accustomed to the cowboy/southern things yet. The dining hall was clean, open, and very cowboy-like. I loved the rolls of paper towels per table. I understand that is common in Texas, but it was the first time I've seen it.
The gentleman working behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. He wore a nice smile and interacted with much kindness.
The food was great.. just some burgers, fries, and onion rings. I would give it 5 stars, except the burgers should have been packed more. They seemed a bit skimpy for their size and price. And my onion rings were overcooked and also skimpy on the amout. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the meal and would probably go back...
