I’ve gone here a few times since they’ve opened but don’t get my nails done frequently since I can’t normally have them done at work. My service has always been fine but my last service on 12/19 left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed.
I walked in shortly after they opened hoping to get a dip manicure with tips in a short almond shape. I had nails on they had done for me a few weeks earlier so they proceeded to soak the old ones off. I have some dip powders which are sold to regular consumers as I used to do my nails at home following COVID. I’m not very good at it so I will occasionally bring one of my dip powders with me to the nail salon. I’ve done this here before with no issue until 12/19.
I brought a white dip powder with sparkles from Sparkle&Co. As soon as the woman servicing my nails asked for the color I told her I brought my own. She looked at it and told me it was not a dip powder but looked like a powder used for sugaring. I explained to her it was a dip powder sold from a company that markets nail products to customers to do at home. She again told me she didn’t believe it was a dip powder, but I explained again that I had used it before and I showed her a picture of it applied to nails. She didn’t saying anything and left my nails to continue to soak.
While my nails were soaking off, the woman got up and began talking to the manager (or receptionist) checking customers in at the front. They then both came over and began staring at my dip powder while standing over me. I explained again that it was a dip powder I had purchased on my own. The woman from the front then told me it didn’t look like dip powder and normally it would need to be mixed in with clear because “it wouldn’t stick with all the glitter in it”. I again tried to explain that it was sold as dip powder and I had used it previously and it was fine, but she told me they could use it but couldn’t guarantee the service. She then said if your nails chip we won’t fix them if you come back. I felt so embarrassed at this point as other customers were starring trying to figure out what was going on. I’ve never returned after a service to get my nails fixed any way, so I agreed so they would stop discussing it.
The technician proceeds with my service after this discussion and I decided to skip the tips to get done as quickly as possible. The service was going fine until she starts buffing my nails down before applying the top coat to finish my nails. When filing down/buffing my left thumb she chipped it so I could see my nail through the powder. She stopped buffing, examined the spot, and then proceeded without fixing it. When I realized she wasn’t going to add another coat of dip powder to the spot I pointed it out to her and she proceeds to add clear dip, but the chip was still there. I asked her again politely to add an additional layer of dip powder so my nail couldn’t be seen, which I felt was a fair ask especially since they just told me it’s my problem if they do chip. She didn’t say anything and did do an additional layer but it felt like I was inconveniencing her just by asking for the chip to be fixed properly. Once she added the extra layer to my thumb she just gave it a quick buff with a hand buffer and then added a gel top coat to the nail, making it bulkier than the rest. However I chose not to say anything to just get out.
I have no problem with them having their own policies when using non typical salon products; however I felt embarrassed by the way they communicated this policy to me. And I found it interesting that this has never been an issue when I’ve used my own colors before. I also found it unacceptable for the technician to act like ensuring my nails were properly covered in dip powder was an inconvenience. Ultimately my nails lasted 12 days until I had to remove them for work (photos on day of service/day of removal) and I had no issues apart from the bulkier thumb nail and expected grow out. I won’t be returning though as the overall experience left a bad taste...
Read moreI really did enjoy this nail salon for a few months. Each time was a good experience. Service was nice, for the most part. I had 1 encounter the gentleman was rude. I looked past it and decided to continue coming. Today, the day before Thanksgiving it was a little busy but nothing too crazy. I had a gel manicure and my 3 children also got manicures. Ruby AKA Pearl was extremely rude. Period. She had my 3 year old to service and she just didn’t seem to have the patience or competency to understand she was 3. My daughter has been to get her nails done plenty of time and each technician works well with her. Idk if it was the presidential or what but next time maybe decline to service small children if you aren’t going to be considerate of their age. Second my daughter was coughing and I decided to give her some of my drink. Pearl stopped and asked me if I had alcohol in my drink that I just gave my 3 year old??? She said “IS THAT ALCOHOL IN THAT” I’m like ???? What?? Excuse me?!? Are you kidding me, or are you dumb? Guys, the way she asked me did I just give my baby alcohol was insane !!! Definitely won’t be back just off that alone. I’ve never had alcohol at this establishment 1st! Ever! Second why the f* would you think I wouldn’t be cautious enough to think about that even if I did ! So that pissed me off. I said what!? No it doesn't.
Moving on the my technician Sonny. Started off nice, but I noticed after my nails were done I did not like the color, we’ve all been there. The whole time I kept going back and forth with myself whether or not to just keep it or come back Friday pay for a new service for a color change no problem. The manager said if I don’t like the color have a seat and they’ll fix it for me right now. THE MANAGER SAID THAT. So I took that offer and got it changed. Sonny, tried to cover with another gold polish lazily and not completely remove the old polish’. When the other polish could still be seen I mentioned it right away and asked her to remove the old polish completely. She was visibly upset. I still politely & gracefully said thank you. She stood up once we were finished, and walked completely away ignored me did not acknowledge me or anything. Okay no problem. I did mention it to management and nothing but excuses were made.. Not to mention a comment was made about my braids in their native language, saying they were long. Asking if they were a lot to manage, etc. ugh , no. Not they aren’t. It’s a cultural thing to wear braids. Actually anyone can wear braids. I’ve seen all ethnicities. So Okay, sure but we all know that promotes insecurities when they are constantly looking at your hair speaking in their native language. Brought it up to management, he just made excuses. $106 for my service. Needless to say I will not be back. Good luck, and be cautious to...
Read moreI came here with my cousin when I was visiting family in Forney for thanksgiving. I came the day after thanksgiving and it was a beautiful space, wasn't too busy when I arrived so we were seated immediately and given cocktails. Things were going well up to this point, everything thereafter was chaotic and disappointing.
I requested French dip powder and as the nail tech began doing my nails she kept mentioning that the powder is drying too quickly for her to do the French style and that she would need to put acrylic on my nails to make it work. I refused to do the acrylic and she proceeded to do the service as I initially requested because in my experience I have never had someone tell me I had to get acrylic in order to do natural dip powder on my nails. She managed and the nails turned out pretty nice!
My cousin can in with a picture of how she wanted her nails and her nail tech did not deliver, in fact it wasn't even close. She kept telling the lady that it wasn't looking right and she acted like she heard but kept doing what she was doing which was incorrect! Furthermore, my cousin got cut while the lady was doing her nails and did very little to acknowledge this and the pain my cousin was feeling for the remainder of her service.
When we got to the payment part, my cousin explained her experience of not getting what she asked for and getting injured in the process so we asked if they would be willing to give us a discount for the unpleasant experience. They only offered $5 off which is literally nothing when you're paying $100+ for nails that you don't like. They offered to re-do the nails but after my cousin was injured she didn't feel safe to have them do it again without inflicting more pain. So they gave us the option of paying for the nails we didn't like or that they would cut her newly done nails off if she didn't want to pay for the service. With these options, we asked for a manager and she wasn't much help either. After a lot of back and forth and having the cops called, we ended up paying for the unsatisfactory service.
We will never come back here and I highly recommend nobody else does either, I have been to PLENTY of nail salons and I can count on one hand how many times I have been cut by a nail tech and I have also had nail salons give me better discounts (25-50% off) when I was unhappy with my service because they realize that a happy customer is better than a bitter one.
1 week later my nails ended up cracking and chipping which is a reflection of the horrible quality of service we received. I live out of state so I couldn't go back and have them redo it so it just left a bad taste...
