It’s been about a month since my poor experience here, but I wanted to wait and write this from an unemotional view. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra cheese (I had a coupon for two toppings) and pepperoni rolls online. I called about a half hour after I made the order only to be told that the order had “been cancelled” despite the fact my card was charged. Apparently the computer is glitchy. The young man on the phone was very nice and helped take the order again. I went at the time he told me it would be ready, but I had to wait in line ten minutes just to tell them I had an order at which point I was told there were two orders and neither had been made yet. I told them what I had been told over the phone (that one order had been cancelled due to a glitch). They told me they had fixed it and my order would be out shortly. After waiting for half an hour, a man (I’m assuming the manager) informed people that they could get a free soda for the inconvenience. I grabbed one but paid for it anyways. The man behind me who had only been waiting for fifteen or twenty minutes got a free one. After that, I had to wait an hour before the employees remembered I was there. At this point the manager stated yelling at the poor kids and asking where my “mushroom pizza” was. I went up and told him it wasn’t mushroom and that it was actually pepperoni with extra cheese. He “found” my order and set it on the counter. He opened the boxes, looked inside, looked me in the eyes, and said it was pepperoni. I should not have trusted him, but I did. When I got home, I found that both the rolls and pizza were plain (not even extra) cheese. I waited for over an hour for regular plain cheese which I didn’t order. I was more upset with the blatant dishonesty needed to look me in the eye and knowingly lie to me.
Fun thing about waiting at a place like this for an hour is that you get to see so many fun health code violations. I watched multiple young drivers come in from delivering pizzas and go straight to touching dough (this happened after they had touched door handles, a steering wheel, phones, and money). I didn’t see a single person leave to wash their hands. I didn’t see anyone wearing gloves. Not a single girl had their hair tied back. At one point I watched a boy drop dough on the floor, pick it up to throw it away, and he still didn’t wash his hands after touching the floor. This same boy later kept rubbing his nose and touching food.
So my order was messed up and nothing was done to remedy the situation, but it’s not like I was that hungry after watching the gross behind-the-scenes action. I did contact the health department to follow up.
Please don’t go here. If you want good pizza, there are so many better places in FOCO. Please, go try...
Read moreI went later at night, they were yelling about starting closing stuff around 8:15pm. I walked in to high-school, or college aged kids leaning over both sides of the counter. I thought they were customers until they greeted me, and the younger people dispersed to let my transaction happen.. It seemed like the kids working had their friends in and out of the kitchen, music on high, said music shouted the N word a few times. To be honest I wasn't bothered by it. I have frequented many college staffed food joints, and I remember shinnanigans when I'd go see my friends or boyfriends. You bend the rules when the boss isn't around.. I was fine with everything.
But I can see how someone like my dad being put off by the atmosphere while waiting for the rolls.
I also noticed a girl walk in grab a two liter, and another beverage from the top shelf of the cooler, and promptly walk out. Theft? Nope. Moments later a woman walked in asking her kid that works therr if she got her text, and if the pizzas were ready, she also asked about taking beverages, which the employee noted her I'm guessing sister already took stuff from the cooler. Hopefully they paid for everything.
Also, when I got home nothing was wrapped in foil like normal l, so everything was a greasy cooled off mess. I expect the grease, it's mama-ronis. What I didn't expect was for my food to be cold before I got to enjoy them.
I'll still come here, their pizza rolls are bomb. Perhaps just be more aware of how a customer can perceive where they choose to do business, and questionable behaviors, music, actions, etc can be...
Read moreWe've always loved Mama Roni's calzones. We've been eating them as long as we've been in Fort Collins. Our last order, however, was noticeably different. I ordered a regular size calzone for 8.99 and a 'large' calzone for 15.99. The regular size was the same as we remember, but the 'large' was only about 1.5x bigger. For almost double the price, I'd expect double the calzone, but this one is just 3 slices versus 2 slices. If it's due to inflation or whatever, I'd gladly pay more for an actual bigger calzone. So to anyone who loves the calzones this is a warning: just buy two regular size instead of the family size.
Edit: further revising to 2 stars because this is the 2nd time they have made the incorrect calzone large size. I ordered a meatzarria large calzone and a bacon/ham/pineapple regular calzone. They made the pineapple one large twice in a row now. Must be some error in their online...
