Poor value for what you pay and lousy customer service
In viewing the other reviews, one wonders what in the world happened to this place. In the past, this was a favorite place to have breakfast. Since we were downtown for the parade, I took my family here on July 4th.
This day, was an absolutely horrible experience -- from the food to the service. We watched other servers frequenting their tables and the only time our server appeared was when taking the initial order and bringing the food (someone else brought the ticket), that was ridiculous. One member of our party had to share a water with another because we couldn't get our server's attention to get a glass of water.
There was something wrong with every person's order (there were 6 of us). One person specifically ordered "sour dough bread" for dietary restrictions. Instead, they got really hard white bread, which they couldn't eat. When this was brought to the staff's attention, she was told "our cooks prepare what is on the ticket". Fortunately, another person shared the rye bread from their sandwich so each person could have an edible half-sandwich.
When the side order of potatoes arrived smothered in gravy (initially ordered with gravy on the side), the waitress's response was "can't you just deal with it". The replacement potatoes had such a horrid taste, the person ended up not being able to eat them anyway. (The few bites she did have, made her sick.)
Another ordered a bacon omelet only to be served a sausage omelet (he detests sausage) with the eggs having the "spongy" disgusting tasting consistency. He ate most of his meal because he was hungry, but later paid the price by spending most of the evening in the bathroom instead of enjoying the 4th with his family.
Pricing is ridiculous for what you get and the quality. The turkey sandwich on rye was $7.95 for a simple sandwich and handful of cheap, greasy POTATO CHIPS. It had 2 regular size pieces of ordinary rye bread, some meat, piece of lettuce and tomato -- nothing spectacular. Most restaurants will at least serve a sandwich, for that price, with fries or a small house salad. The BLT (which was on the hard white bread) was also served with pototo chips for a little bit more. The sandwiches were way over priced for what was received.
The only thing that was correct and may have tasted acceptable, were the kid's pancakes -- they are toddlers and didn't make any comment, but only ate part of their pancakes (they normally eat a full large pancake).
The topper for the experience was the service we received from the manager(?) -- a woman who appeared to be in charge. She asked how everything was and was told it wasn't good. This was obvious by all the plates still having food on them. Instead of offering to help change the experience, she just shrugged her shoulders and walked away.
My friend was reviewing the ticket to 1) see how much was charged for each item and 2) to verify everything was correct. She already mentioned to the woman (manager?) that she didn't have her reading glasses, so was having problems reading the ticket. The manager, RUDELY and SARCASTICALLY said "do you need a calculator?" We were stunned at how rude she was treating a customer -- just because they wanted to look over the ticket to verify all was correct.
This was a disappointing visit and it will be a long time before I (or my family)...
Read moreI want to share my experience that my daughter had with the owner. Its the 4th of July and my daughter is part of the parade. She is 5. We were on a mission to find a restroom. We found the porter potty but the line was over 12 people easily. She said (mom my tummy hurts to bad. I cant hold it.) She is about in tears. I see this little place. Thats actually open. We enter and the lady at the front table greeted us. She was so nice. I said by any chance can we please use the restroom. I said we wouldn't mind waiting in the line but she is going to have a accident. She said yes that's OK. We entered the area we're the restrooms are and a lady came in right behind. She said you need to get out now. I said my daughter is going and we will be out. She then said no she needs to get up now. You need to leave your not a paying customer. I told my daughter to finish. I told her that it was beyond rude to talk to my daughter that way. She opened the stall and told her get out. I refused. My daughter at this point is in full tears scared. THIS LADY INVADED HER PRIVACY. I told her to leave her alone to get the police because my daughter is using the restroom. She then said poor baby finish. My daughter( mom im hurrying please mom im scared) the lady then again came in was get up. I told her I asked the front lady and she answered with " she is not the owner and im telling you leave". Needless to say this was embarrassing and traumatic for my daughter. I have never delt this kind of treatment and hope Noone else will have too. I just wanted to share this...
Read moreThis establishment does not follow ADA guidelines. I came here with my partner and my service animal. We were offered to sit outside because we had the service animal and told we could not sit inside with him because we did not have papers or a vest. The ADA and Colorado disability guidelines state that papers are not required for service animals and cannot be asked for. Most people with papers get them from fake websites or things pretending to be ADA websites. The service dogs that are trained at facilities may come with papers. As for the vest, service animals are not required to be marked — however it helps and my animal has a large tag along his leash. Additionally, service animals are required to be allowed anywhere where people are allowed to be, so if people are sitting inside and there is space, by law my animal is allowed there. This cafe had tables available inside but refused to allow us to sit there. We were told again that we could sit outside, but we did not want to sit outside as there was literal snow and ice on the tables and despite being a decent 47° day, the patio was in the cold shade. We were told that it was the restaurant’s policy to ask and require these things. The restaurant’s policy is an ADA violation and is thus a federal offense, a lawsuit waiting to happen, and reportable to the ADA.
It was incredibly disheartening to be refused service here and to be told that it was...
