I love bbq. I've frequented some BBQ contests here in Colorado, spent time in the south on a quest for the best brisket, and driven to Texas and Kansas City to see what they have to offer. I was visiting a friend in FOCO and she said we should try out this place. Hello! So many good things to say here. After we got in the door, we were met by the manager/owner (not sure which) and he walked us though some of the favorites and talked about everything is made in house and all the recipes are homemade. He directed us through ordering some small portions of the meats (4) and a handful of sides (4) so we could get a feel for what they had to offer. There wasn't a bite that we didn't rave over.
My first bite was of the bacon wrapped cheddar jalapeños. Complete heaven! I'm telling you...HEAVEN. And, my mouth is still watering days later when I think about the brisket. Sometimes, I get a little lazy and ask that shops chop it for me to make it easier. They asked that I allow them not to because they wanted me to see how beautiful the cuts were and I'm so glad I did. It was surrounded with the perfectly thick dry rub with a smoke ring that reminds me that good food like this takes time. This brisket doesn't even need any sauce - although I'm all about the sticky, spicy stuff. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you it melted in my mouth. You don't need a knife to pull off bite size pieces. This is truly the most flavorful, tender, made-with-love brisket I've had. My friend raved over the potato salad and turkey. We had to add on the brisket quesadilla for fun and if you only have time for a quick snack you can eat while you drive...get that....along with the jalapeños. The cornbread muffins are not some little, yellow square that decorates one tiny corner of your plate either. It's a hearty size muffin that comes with honey butter and could easily be a small meal in itself.
I don't often write reviews but, I really want other folks to give this place a try. It's a family friendly place with big tables and the signature roll of paper towels at each. We loved it so much, we generously decided to take huge bags of the tasty stuff home to our families. I ordered the brisket, beans, cornbread, and their homemade jalapeño cheddar links to go. My three sons ate like kings through the nights and left me one piece of the sausage for breakfast which was just as tasty as everything else. FYI...I don't work there. Don't know the owners. And, nobody has paid me for this review. I'm just a fellow bbq lover and wanted to share the love. I wish I would have thought to take some pictures but we dug in before I thought of it. And, the next morning, there were only empty boxes left on...
Read moreReally don’t want to leave this review as the bbq here is really good, best in Fort Collins. I’ve been here before a few times when I was recommended by a friend to try it out. Most of the time we are really happy. Employees are great and service is usually top notch. However, this time when I ordered a portion of brisket, half portion of pork, burnt ends and half a portion of ribs with sides of Mac n cheese and beans coming to about $50/$60, the portion sizes were the smallest I’ve ever seen. Not sure if they made a mistake this time but wow were we disappointed. Two pieces of ribs , two smaller pieces of brisket and three small pieces of burnt ends, I know you guys price your meats on the higher end but come on, I’ve been here before and not sure why we got such a small portion this time. It was like a little taster menu that wouldn’t feed or satisfy one, let alone two people. Genuinely wouldn't have left this review but ended up getting having to get some more food a few hours later as we were both still very hungry. Really, really dissatisfied and disappointed as I’ve always held this place so so high on list of recommendations. Hard to go back and justify it after what I...
Read moreHands down one of the best BBQ experiences in Fort Collins! I decided to try the Nashville fried chicken sandwich today at Smōk, and oh my goodness, it did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and carried that signature Nashville heat just right, spicy, tangy, and incredibly juicy beneath the golden crust. Each bite was a symphony of Southern comfort and bold, mouthwatering flavor.
And let’s talk about those seasoned fries, crispy, perfectly salted, and seasoned with what felt like a magical blend of spices. They paired flawlessly with the sandwich, and I can’t even count how many times I found myself reaching in for “just one more.”
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is laid-back and the staff is friendly and efficient, service was quick without feeling rushed. Smōk really nails that easygoing vibe while delivering top-tier BBQ.
If you're craving something fiery and unforgettable in Fort Collins, this is it. Highly recommend the Nashville fried chicken sandwich and seasoned fries, absolutely worth every...
