I’ve been going to this place ever since 2003 when I was a baby. My mom would take me and my sister all the way from Gillette, Wyoming to shop, play and eat. Before the construction and remolding took place there was a huge food court, a vast variety of stores and an open play area for children. It was a place where everybody of all ages came to do everything. I grew up going to his mall and sadly watched it become abandoned. Nothing was there anymore and it became an unsafe place to go because the building was unstable. They demolished the indoor mall to make way for a new, modern outdoor mall. I was excited at first for the new mall to open but it didnt take long for me to miss the old one. There’s no food court there’s only pricey sit down restaurants. There’s hardly any stores and there’s no place for children to play. Its an outdoor mall so it’s dreadful to shop anywhere on hot summer days or in the winter when it’s freezing. I’m a teenager, I don’t shoplift, i don’t loiter and Im not going to vandalize the mall. I just want a place to go and have some fun with my friends after school or have a variety of stores to shop at and then eat afterwards. I notice there is no children at the mall anymore because there’s nothing kid-friendly her and it’s honestly depressing. I went the other day with a friend because we were bored but when we went, we were even more bored than before. The way the mall is Layed out is so stupid and there’s absolutely nothing to do. They should’ve kept the old mall, just remolded it instead of destroying it. I’m sure this mall is going to go out of business soon because nobody goes to it anymore. It’s so depressing watching this mall go down hill from what...
Read moreI recently enjoyed the beautiful and relaxing plaza at the newly developed Foothills mall. But as I was passing back into the mall by the lawn at the southeast entrance I was dismayed and a little angered that I was compelled to see a wall size image of a semi-pornographic image advertising the adjoining retailer Victoria's Secret. I realize that the business in question operates more or less for the explicit purpose of sexualizing women’s undergarments and that it is probably an important client for keeping the Foothills Mall profitable and relevant to a variety of potential consumers, but I think the mall management should strongly consider eliminating images of this sort on the exterior facing the plaza. My three young children were with me, including my 10-year old daughter, and I do not wish her to evaluate her own body or self-worth (nor that of others) according to such images. I also do not want my boys learning from an early age to view women as purely sexual objects or evaluating beauty according to a manipulated and destructive standard
I can do my part to steer clear of such advertisements when I am in the mall, but the plaza is a lovely open, public space designed to invite families as well as shoppers, and I feel that we were unduly subjected to this image because it was on the outside, facing the lawn and next to a photo booth. I have written to the mall management. I hope others will...
Read moreThe Foothills is Fort Collins 3rd reincarnation of their once-staple retail shopping center, and unfortunately has not done well since the pandemic. With nearly every building completely rebuilt, the mall transformed it's mostly interior space to a hybrid exterior/interior layout an added a few amenities that were not seen before including new restaurants and a full deluxe movie theater (Cinemark).
Unfortunately this is not a very good place to shop unless you're looking for a very specific brand. Many of the initial restaurants that first appeared with its opening prior to the pandemic have since closed down including the once popular C.B. Potts, and now a dozen and a half "mall brands," including Hot Topic, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body works, and of course a pretzel shop, still linger. It's one big box "core brand" Macy's recently closed down leaving an unsightly scar of the otherwise prestige architecture of the shopping center, but you can find other major retailers such as Ross and Nordstrom rack, in the same area just outside. Nevertheless you could just feel how empty the overall shopping district now feels.
If you're looking for a more engaging and lively shopping and dining experience, I would probably recommend Old Town square in downtown Fort Collins, or if you're just shopping for the essentials, you will likely find what you need at the Front Range Village on...
