I started going to Phylicia in August. I have dyed my hair EVERY color imaginable and on top of that I love straightening and curling my hair. Up to this point I've done all my own hair dying (which was a lot of trial and error!). Needless to say, when I met Phylicia my hair was pretty damaged. It felt like straw. Actually straw was probably softer.. But anyway, I went to Phylicia with this vision of getting back to my natural color (something I haven't seen in years) and putting in some highlights to brighten it up. Phylicia was so up front with me about what was needed, how this wasn't going to be a one and done thing. It's going to be a process but SHE WILL get me there. She encouraged me to focus first on getting my hair healthy before trying to add more bleach and color to it. She gave me so much advice, recommended the right products, even walked through the store with me going over different products and the pluses and minuses of them. She has even been there via her Instagram to answer my questions and give me advice when I needed it. It's only been 2 months but the difference in my hair is night and day. It is amazing. I have never felt my hair this healthy before, I honestly didn't even think it was possible for my hair to be this healthy again. I thought I had definitely damaged it beyond repair. Phylicia gave me more then just healthy, silky smooth, can't stop running my fingers through it, amazing hair, she gave me confidence, she gave me a hair care routine that is manageable and works with my schedule, she gets excited with me and she is always willing to work with me. If I tell her something isn't in my budget, she comes up with a plan B that does fit my budget. If I have a goal for my hair care journey she makes it happen! I honestly cannot...
Read moreThis establishment is a joke. As a company and this store. I don’t frequent Ulta as I usually order online. However, I happened to be in the area for work and decided to stop by. When I walked in, there were a few associates standing around. No one greeted me verbally. They all hovered together and watched as I started browsing in the fragrance section. It wasn’t until I actually picked up a tester to spray it and here comes Annie. Yes, that’s her name. She asks me if I had any questions. I replied and asked her why didn’t anyone speak to me or offer assistance when I first came in. She laughed nervously and said “we must’ve missed you coming in”. Without any reluctance, I started walking towards the exit. There was no way I was spending my money there after being made to feel so uncomfortable. As I walk towards the door, Annie asks can she check my handbag as its policy when you don’t purchase anything. I looked at her like she was crazy, laughed at the obnoxious request, and left. Ulta already has a notorious reputation for racial profiling, but I’d never personally had that experience until today. You would think after the lawsuits that some sort of diversity and inclusion training would be provided at this point. They apparently haven’t made a conscious effort to grasp and understand the issue of racial equality. I’m sure there are “Annie’s” at their other locations as well but based on my experience at this location it’s easy to conclude that this is racist store that employs non-POC’s who are comfortable with making select consumers uncomfortable....
Read moreUlta is great. This location. Not so much. I’ve been here countless of times and have been approached for assistance once of all the times I’ve been here. This last time was icing on the cake. Ran in for two items on a busy day of mine. Walked in, no greeting even with an employee standing in the front messing with a display, again. No surprise. Got my items and proceeded to the register. After standing in line this employee let’s call her “Regina” (Mean Girls shout out) opened a register and began to check out my items. When it came time for me to pay the system wouldn’t accept the chip on my card. After trying three times I asked her “I can swipe it now right?” (Every and anywhere else I’ve been follows these procedures). She then says their store policies changed and if my card has a chip then the reader HAS TO accept the chip......this is bullsht with the fact that all Credit/Debit cards mandatorily have to have a chip. I then start getting aggravated. And still. It’s denying my chip. She then looks at my wallet open on the counter and asks in an extremely rude Bichy tone if I wanna use another card.....wow. You’re so right Regina, i didn’t even consider doing that after my chip being denied more than 6 times. And if I’m holding up your line then maybe you can tell another employee standing behind you to open up another register sense your other employee helping another customer is having the same issue with...
