Donna's Caribbean Restaurant — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

The customer service was decent. However, the food was terrible. I ordered oxtails with rice and peas, 3 bbq wings, mac n cheese, and two red velvet cakes. Everything we ate taste terrible. This is totally inconsistant with the many experiences ive had at other Donnas in Lauderdale Lakes, and Lauderhill. The oxtails were not cooked to tender perfection they were about 3/4 a way there so the meat was a bit more tough than I would ever desire. They gave me extra gravy, which is a usual thing for a foodie like myself, however both the rice and the gravy was tasteless. Donna's on 441 and Oakland has some really good mac n cheese, but this one on Commercial. It didnt even look good when I ordered it so I asked them to put curry goat sauce on it for me. Now i will say that mac n cheese alone was insulting, but with the curry goat gravy it became a new dish and was very flavorful. The red velvet cake was grainy and a true waist of money. Finally, the bbq chicken wings: dry, nice flavor for the sauce but were definitely sitting out for a while because they were not fresh. I paid $40 for me and my wife to enjoy some Jamaican food and I really feel like I wasted my money. We didnt even finish the oxtails that how bad it was. I put it in the fridge because i dont want to waste money on the same day, but its going in the trash tomorrow. I wont be going back there again. But I'll say this; to the kind people working there. I appreciate how nice they were. There was an older gentlemen who may have been the manager a young man and a middle aged woman who were cool. Please excuse my grammar and punctuation errors, my grammerly is not working! lol. And Im not editing. This is a raw review. If the owners of this restuarant are seeing this please respond and make changes as I would love to patronize your restuarant. I think you guys are in a great yet challenging location, but if the food is prepared with excellence I do this location will do well, and Id like to be apart of it. I must say that out of all the locations in Broward, this location displays the customer service along with the good taste of food options. However, I believe timing with this location is a juggle when it comes to consistent quality of the food you will receive. An earlier reviewer alluded to the same.

I've been here twice before, spaced out and both times were around the start of their lunch time. At that time, the food was hot, fresh, and I was definitely certain I would return for a visit without a doubt. Remembering the deliciousness, freshness, and well seasoned entrees.. I decided to return this week for a meal. Unfortunately, this time I made a visit to this location closer to dinner time. Although the customer service was pleasant, the food was not. Leaving us to take a bite from the chicken in oxtail ordered and a scoop of the rice. Only to discover the rice was extremely hard, stuck together, and missing the flavor. The meat s were fine but since you're often provided a deep pot of rice greater than the meat the entire meal was tossed. This leaves us to the conclusion that timing may be important for this location when choosing to enjoy a meal.

Went to this location after coming from doing bloodwork. I had fasted from 10pm the night before. I drove to the drive-thru and asked how much for the curry goat. Price was 56 cents more than Broward Blvd location so I left. Decided to go back and purchased the curry goat for $8.55. Got order and it was 80% bones. I complained and was given more curry goat with barely any bones. Took it all home and hate. Sometime later I had and am still having the worst case of Diarrhea I've had in a longggg time. I purchased the meal around 1:15pm on 8/6/2024 and ate around 1:35. I've gone to the bathroom with Diarrhea at least 4 times already and feel like I need to go after writing this review. Don't know if the food was just bad or if they did something to the extra curry goat that they gave me. I hate nothing else from 10pm the night before. I've bragged about Donna's food and prices in the past when I used to buy from the restaurant on Oakland and 441 but I think I won't be eating out for a long time after...
