As Florida's Caribbean population has grown tenfold in the last 30 years, newcomers from Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic, and beyond have put down roots here—and opened restaurants by the dozen in the strip malls that line up almost all Fort Lauderdale's main streets. This casual, mostly takeout spot is popular for those craving a Haitian national dish: fried pork (Griot), long grain brown rice mixed with pinto beans, with a side of fried plantains. My favorite is their delicious spin on Brown Stew chicken 🐔. Each and every freaking morsel of food that you bite into is beyond flavorful and well seasoned.

Read moreI don’t even know where to start. I bought two plates there today, a plate of griot and fried goat. I don’t have much complaints about the meat seasonings, texture, etc, but as for the fried plantains, It honestly felt like I was biting down on hard pieces of concrete whenever I took a bite on them. I don’t know if those plantains were leftovers that they decided to reuse, but no one should have to force to have a wrestling match with their foods. Oh well, hard lesson learned. I wouldn’t recommend anyone...
