Oscar and his wife are so nice! They've been running this business for about six months, and this was my first visit. I could tell that Oscar is as passionate about coffee as I am. We discussed the pour-over offerings he had available and he suggested I try the Nicaragua. While not my preferred flavor profile, it was definitely a good coffee.
Oscar told me that it was not only single origin, but single farm! That's how much he cares about his coffee – he makes sure he knows exactly where it comes from. I asked him whether he plans to get beans from Ethiopia, and he told me that he has tried but he won't get it until he can find a trustworthy source. He does not want to buy coffee unless he knows it's provenance.
The pastry that I got was a croissant with Nutella. They slice the croissant in half and put Nutella on the inside and then warm it in the oven. Quite delicious.
Before I left Oscar offered me a taste of his espresso because I had been asking about the beans he uses for that. He pulled a shot and we stood there sharing an espresso and discussing its flavor profile.
It was a very memorable experience and I will definitely be back again. I highly recommend...
Read moreI originally was going to go to a different coffee shop but it was temporarily closed for renovations, so I ended up trying Coffee Culture instead and I’m so glad I tried it! I got the Caffe Mocha with almond milk and the guava croissant. Both were delicious 😊🩷 It’s a nice cozy atmosphere and the music is at the perfect volume. Not sure how it is when the cafe is busy, but it was perfect for working when I was there in the afternoon on the weekend. The only thing I would note is that I don’t think I saw any outlets when I was there (but I could have missed them since I was sitting at a table in the middle of the room), so if you plan to work on your computer/tablet/etc just make sure your devices are charged! Another note is that it’s next to the Culture Room (small music venue), so there was a tour bus parked in a dedicated parking area in front of the cafe when I was visiting; however, none of the parking spaces are completely blocked, and there are a good number of spaces in the parking lot. I hope to come back again soon to try out...
Read moreThis coffee place has a lot of charm. The decor is inviting, and you can tell it is meant to be a space for art, creativity, and community. It is a great spot for small gatherings or for local artists to showcase their work. The staff is friendly, and the service was warm and attentive.
That said, I really hope to see improvement in the coffee itself. The latte I ordered had no crema, and the espresso shot did not seem well-pulled. It tasted flat, and the milk was just poured in with no texture or figure. There was no sign of proper barista technique. It felt more like a basic coffee with milk than a crafted espresso drink. I do not believe the person making it has had formal barista training.
I am sharing this because I truly want this place to succeed. The atmosphere and people are wonderful, and with better coffee, it could become a great coffee house. I hope to return in the future and see that the coffee...
