Angelo Elia grew up near Salerno, Italy, learning about food in his mother's kitchen and in the family restaurant. He then moved to New York as a teenager and worked his way up the restaurant industry before moving to Florida 40 years ago with his wife Denise. He is now the owner-operator of Fort Lauderdale-based Angelo Elia Restaurant Group. His culinary group started out with one restaurant in 1998 that expanded to nine specialty Italian eateries by 2016. Today there are restaurants located in Ft. Lauderdale, Weston, Coral Springs, and Delray.
In the summer of 2016 Angelo Elia opened the hybrid bakery/ bar in Fort Lauderdale. The menu features pastries, gelato, breads, sandwiches, croissants, paninis, tramezzinis, piadines, Sicilian pan pizza, soup, and salad. The bar offers bottles and glasses of wine. To survive during Covid, the bakery bar added an Italian market selling Italian food items and bottles of wine.
I was at a flea market at the church across the street when I spotted Angelo Elia. I had always meant to come in and check it out and this seemed like the perfect time. As you wait in line to order you go past the bakery case filled with mouth watering works of art. I love the savory menu here too. There isn't anything I wouldn't order and everything looked so tempting. I was so close to ordering one of the colorful rainbow croissants but ended up getting turkey and Brie croissant with cranberry and arugula. I also got a cappuccino. You order and pay at the counter and then they bring your food to you. Everything was just perfect. The sweet and salty on the croissant was the perfect pairing while the foam on the cappuccino was nice and thick and it even came with a little cookie. I loved my brunch This was my first visit to the bakery bar but it...
Read moreWe are here every Sunday, and today was no exception although we got a later start and enjoyed an elegant and delicious charcuterie board made of high quality meats and cheeses. This is my favorite place that reminds me of my Italian parents and grandparents in both food offerings and ambiance. Everything about this spot screams quality, service and Old World charm. Molto grazie con amore!
Thanksgiving morning we started with coffee and croissants at Angelo’s! You cannot believe how delicious these turkey, Brie croissant sandwiches are with cranberry sauce and arugula. Now it’s time to make Thanksgiving dinner! But as we say, the day begins after great coffee, and Angelo’s always is top notch! A special thanks to the ladies who work behind the counter, make the coffee and serve our delicacies. These ladies are the best of the best and we love them all!
Benissimo! If you are looking for the best Italian coffee, panini and pastries with an upscale international flair, then Angelo’s Bakery Bar is for you! We love the staff here as much as the food! Try the Caprese Panini along with a rich creamy slice of Opera, Tiramisu, and everything else in the bakery for breakfast or dessert! Conveniently located on Oakland Park Boulevard and Federal, only a mile or so from Fort Lauderdale Beach. This is our “go to” place for coffee whether for breakfast, lunch or anything else in-between! Mille...
Read moreThe staff at this establishment needs to be properly trained. I was looking at the display of desserts and I picked a cheesecake w/ a strawberry. I decided to open the box after she had given it to me and noticed that the strawberry was missing on the cheesecake. When I asked her (cashier) what happened, she told me that it had fallen off the cheesecake. So it fell and you just said "oh well". If I’m paying for a cheesecake with a strawberry, I expect to get a cheesecake the way I saw it on display. I also bought a $40 cake and they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate which I thought was really cool, but they put the delicate chocolate words on the cake and sealed/closed the box. Later when I went to open it, the words in chocolate were broken. I mean it's common sense! If you close the lid, the top of the box will break the words. You can tell just by looking at it that the words in chocolate are fragile. These chocolate words should be placed in a separate box, and the person who bought it should put it on the cake right before singing happy birthday. Presentation is everything! if someone likes the presentation on the cake at my dinner party, that's more customers for your business. This left me thinking I was better off going to Publix to...
