Won’t accept customers with a stroller. Taste has gotten much worse over the years too.
Edit: the owner replied misstating the facts. When we were there, the restaurant certainly was NOT at full capacity. I’d say it was at most 30% occupied, and the person suggested I bring a baby car seat, not a baby basket - I don’t think any sensible person would actually take off a 60 pound car seat off the car and place a 30 pound baby on it lifting 90 pounds just to dine (not to mention the extremely cumbersome nature of taking the car seat off the car, then having to install it back in the car, and no one has a baby basket when the baby gets that heavy - it’s clear the staff nor the owner know how complicated it can get with babies).
The stroller could have been placed into any of one of the seat spaces towards the wall and no one would have tripped over it. I’m really disappointed by the OUTRIGHT LIES stated in this response and now am all the more concerned with the honesty and integrity of a restaurant that deals with raw food, which can easily be contaminated.
It’s sad there aren’t many alternatives in the area, but after having been a royal customer of both the Fort Lee and Englewood Cliffs locations for over 5 years, it saddens me to see such blatantly false blaming placed on the customer rather than trying to rectify the wrongs that have been done.
I had ordered from the further out Englewood Cliffs location during the peak of COVID when the Fort Lee location was closed, then resumed with the Fort Lee location when they reopened.
I witnessed how they both fail at quality control from time to time, i.e., there was always a 50% chance the sashimi was fishy, and/or the tempura was soggy. The dinner is way overpriced. The taste indeed has gotten worse over the years since my first visit in 2016. But again, not many alternatives in the area, so we took our coin flip chances for the sake of convenience.
Not worth your dime. Not worth your time. I wish I can turn back thousands of dollars I plunged at this place...
Read moreI honestly wanted to like this place but it was all just a huge disappointment. The food was mediocre at best and the service was just so, so bad.
Let’s start with the actual food because most people will ignore the service if the food is worth it. Yea....this isn’t one of those places. My brothers said the shellfish items (raw oysters, lobster , etc.) tasted overly fishy, like they were not fresh, and the sashimi I had was rubbery as if it had been pre-frozen.
Now the service...look, I don’t need five star service to enjoy myself at a restaurant. I just need to feel like my presence, a customer’s presence, is not a nuisance. But here, they couldn’t even give me that! The servers were basically indifferent and super inattentive, kind of like a “here is your friggin food, eat it or don’t eat it, eff if I care” type attitude. Yes, because that is exactly the kind of environment I want to enjoy my (subpar) meal in.
Also, I have a shellfish allergy, which I told them about at the very beginning. I’ve never had an issue going to sushi restaurants because I usually stick to sashimi or sushi and most restaurants are very accommodating. Servers at other sushi restaurants will always bring a dish and explain what is in it and whether or not I can eat it. But here, they would plop a dish down and walk away, without so much as a how-do-ya-do. If the dish was ambiguous, I would call a server back to ask what was in it and if it was okay for me to eat it, the server would say they weren’t sure and then suggest that I just don’t eat it. Uhm....okay? Would you mind taking two seconds and asking the kitchen? Like what?
Anyways, overall this place is just not worth it. For the price I paid for old, frozen sushi, I’m sure I could’ve gone to any other sushi restaurant in Fort Lee and had a much more...
Read moreBada Story has officially fallen off
They used to be in my rotation, but I have given them three more chances since my last bad experience and each time I was left more and more disappointed. I’ve hit my breaking point.
The cut of the sashimi has gotten SOO thin. It’s embarrassing how much they have cheapened out thinking their regulars won’t notice.
I order their spicy tuna rolls 2-3 times a month. It’s in my rotation for me and my friends. One roll used to be sooo filling because the portions were so big. But the piece of tuna they put into each roll is: 1.) so tiny I can’t even taste it anymore 2.) so fatty that I’m grossed out by the chunks of fat I have to pull out of my mouth 3.) so poor in quality that they try to hide it with all the extra drizzle of spicy mayo
The tuna used to be bright red, fresh and melt in your mouth. Now you’re just aggressively chewing through the fat.
And this review comes from my last chance tonight. I woke up to a huge rash all over my body. Arms, legs, chest, neck. I’m scratching all over because I know for a fact that they didn’t properly store this fish. Leaving a review at 1 in the morning isn’t how I planned to depart from Bada Story, but I’m just so frustrated how much they lack in quality and integrity of serving raw fish.
I wish those who still love Bada Story good luck, and I’m sorry to those who never experienced Bada Story in...
