Pomodoro — Restaurant in Cliffside Park

Visited with my husband on a Wednesday night. We went upstairs to their dining room. Downstairs is where people order take out. At 7 pm the place was completely empty which I did not mind, having the place to ourselves. We sat by the window and the server brought us menus. We ordered a 12" pizza and the spicy pasta with an added protein (shrimp). While we waited for our food we were given some warm bread. I would have liked some butter or olive oil to accompany the tasty bread but that's all we got. I noticed there were some flies on the window so I let them out. No biggie, I guess they wanted relief from the heat, just like us.

The pasta was really good. It came with 4 large shrimp. The pasta was sweet, spicy and savory and the portion was generous. We brought back the leftovers to eat at home. The pizza, I thought, was mediocre. It lacked flavor. I could tell my hubby thought so too because he added pepper flakes and hot sauce to his slices. I am from Brooklyn so I am used to superior quality pizza. Since I liked the pasta so much I used the tomatoes and sauce from it to top my plain cheese slice and it made it taste so much better. If I lived in the neighborhood I would just get the pasta, not the pizza. I would not go out of my way...

Been ordering from this place a few years and went to dinner in their upstairs dining room and it was good. Don't know what happened, but a few times after that it wasn't that good. But last night's order was a disaster. The pizza was dry and a little undercooked, the house salad had a few rotten pieces of lettuce, and the linguine with white clam sauce was completely tasteless. The salad with the grilled chicken and fresh mozzarella also had a few bad pieces of lettuce and they were very stingy with the chicken and mozzarella. The fried zucchini was soggy, and the sandwich had no taste either. Guess what? That terrible meal cost me $87!!! For what????? Overpriced, especially for a lousy meal. We complained and they credited us back almost half the total cost of the meal. On top of that, they have this delivery driver that gets nasty because he doesn't like the tips he gets. This happened a few times with him. He should remember that some people don't even get a tip! He gets paid for what he does and should just be gracious and say thank you for whatever tip he receives. I called to place an order. After the call I checked my account, and saw the amount charged was higher than what I was told. When I called back, the lady who took my order said it was some type of card fee. I told her this was a debit card, and my bank doesn't charge fees for me to make purchases. I asked to speak to a manager and was told no one is on the premises. She then advised me to call my bank about the fee (which I did, and the bank rep had no idea what that lady was referring to). I ended up canceling the order due to non transparency. I have been ordering from other restaurants and not once was there a card fee accessed on debit card. I feel like I wasn't informed well about the total amount (which she didn't even bother telling me, just asked for card number right away, and I had to ask her for the total). My bank said they never heard of a restaurant charging card fee to use debit card. If she gave me the exact total of what I will be charged, and explained about the fee, it would’ve been a different outcome.
