I've been buying their croquettes/고로케 ever since the store was called "Chrome" years ago. Maybe Blue Angel bought it out, but either way they kept the same croquettes till recently.
They apparently changed the recipe, which is unfortunate because the original had "crabmeat" with fresh filling, but now it's just deli ham with old mush.
There's a reason the original croquettes were always sold out!!! I was surprised to see both racks still full at night and now I know why. Charging over $5 each when it's arguably one of the worst I've had is a ripoff... (I get that prices are going up, but please reconsider the old recipe)
... the next stuff is from a while back, but I might as well mention it at this point
Both the husband and wife owners don't seem to grasp the idea of how to treat customers well.
I guess if you go often enough, you know who the lady owner is. She just sits/stands around and doesn't do much. That's fine, you have employees for that and you're just overseeing. But when you're just watching customers as they shop and make eye contact, at least say hi or smile. What kind of owner stares down customers and looks away after eye contact? The other day, she was just sitting at the side chatting loudly with her friend. I happened to look over bc they were pretty loud and again, awkward eye contact
Another time, I had my tray ready and was waiting patiently for a cashier. Suddenly the guy owner comes out from the back and says hi to 2 other guys who were still browsing. Turns out they're church friends, and they're chatting while I'm clearly standing at the counter waiting. I figure I'll just let them quickly catch up and maybe there's a separate cashier who'll ring me up. Out of nowhere, the 2 middle aged men straight up cut me and put their stuff on the counter while talking. Owner's all smiles going on about how their stuff is on the house and no need to thank him. Meanwhile, I'm still standing there shocked at the fact that the OWNER completely neglected a PAYING customer just so he can please his friends with...
Read moreThis cafe bakery sits nestled between BCD Tofu House, Sa Rit Gol, and an AYCE Shabu House, so it's bound to be lively. When we entered, there were many pre-packaged Korean baked goods, along with whole cakes for any occasion and slices if you don't need a full cake. They also offer bubble tea, but unfortunately, they were out of tapioca pearls the night we visited, much to my husband chagrin.
We browsed for a while and ended up ordering a slice of blueberry cake and a slice of green tea cake. Unfortunately, the cakes weren't quite to our taste. The green tea cake, despite mentioning they use matcha powder, lacked any real green tea flavor. The sweetness overpowered it completely. The blueberry cake was more reminiscent of a blueberry muffin, and again, a bit too sweet for us. It might be perfect for someone with a strong sweet tooth, but ours leans milder.
Since they were out of tapioca pearls, my husband opted for an Orange Blossom Fleur D’oranger tea, while I settled for a Black Soy Bean latte. Both drinks were okay, but again, a touch sweeter than we'd prefer. The Black soy bean latte had beans in it to give it a more nutty profile. Unfortunately, the cashier informed me they couldn't adjust the sugar level for my latte.
While the cakes and drinks weren't quite a hit for us, we'll definitely be back to try other baked goods and beverages. Maybe it was just a matter of picking the wrong things this time. We found the cashiers were friendly. However, it was quite crowded during our visit, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. It looked like they weren't able to keep up with cleaning tables. It's worth mentioning that some of the blame falls on the patrons too. Everyone should tidy up after themselves when...
Read moreOne of the cashiers failed to close the lid on the coffee cup and it spilled all over my wife's purse as she lifted the tray. Fortunately, we ordered ice coffee so there were no bodily injury, however, my wife's purse, cell phone, and other personal belongings were damaged. We spoke to the owner and he was extremely belligerent and defensive, and none of the employees offered an apology either. Thank God there was CCTV that captured the footage, but the owner was still convinced that there was no negligence involved. However, ironically, the owner was convinced that my wife spilled the coffee because she failed to "balance" the tray, better yet, she purposefully tilted the tray towards her direction. His so called "allegation" is laughable and it lacks complete common sense. We were loyal patrons to this establishment but now we are disgusted by their lack of disservice and poor character. We asked the owners, first the wife, that we would like to be reimbursed for dry cleaning fee but she declined. Then we spoke to her husband subsequently, and he did verbally indicate that he will provide dry cleaning fee and fix my wife's phone, but he continued to put the blame on my wife, nearly shouting at her. Therefore, I've asked the husband that we would like to file a claim to his business insurance, because we just didn't want to deal with his attitude, but he said I would need to speak to his attorney. I look forward to speaking to his attorney about this matter any time. He can call me direct on my cell phone. We tried to resolve this issue respectfully without making it public, but the damage has...
