Great AYCE hot pot / shabu shabu establishment. It was a packed house on a Saturday night. Got there around 6:50 PM and was greeted by the very friendly waitresses. Seated about 5 minutes later.
You choose from a menu of 8 broths to cook your meats, veggies, and seafood in. Their most popular broth is the dashi. I chose their sukiyaki broth, which is a bit more salty and sweet version of their dashi broth.
Once you choose your broth, you get up and go to the crowded sections where you get plates and bowls of veggies, seafood, and dipping sauces.
By the time you get back to your seat, your broth is already on the electric stove, turned up to 5 (out of 6 max), and ready to boil. This is when you put in your frozen meat/fish balls and cold seafood to let it cook. It'll take about 5-10 minutes to start boiling. Veggies can also be put into your pot to start cooking, but be sure to take them out much faster than the frozen food.
You'll now be able to choose your meats to cook. They let you pick 4 meat options at a time and will keep coming to check to see if your table is finished, and ask which ones you want to replenish. The wait staff is very attentive, friendly, and helpful, constantly checking to see if you need anything and taking away dirty dishes.
Swish your meats in the hot pot for about 5-15 seconds and dip them in your sauce bowl. No need to overcook the meat or it'll get too tough and well done. They're thinly sliced so it'll be cooked fast, depending on what setting you have your stove set to and the current temperature of the broth.
If you like to drink the broth while eating, they'll refill your pot constantly. I saved my broth until I'm about to be full, then added rice into it. You can also put in ramen / noddles instead of rice, or just drink the soup by itself. The broth becomes extremely rich and flavorful at the end of the meal.
Mango sorbet dessert is very good but I was already full by then, so I only had a few spoonfuls.
Overall, a great dining experience with amazing food and service. My only complaint is that the veggies/seafood/sauces section is very crowded when the place is packed. You need to be very careful not to run into people and children. Good deal for AYCE premium meats and seafood hot pot dinners at $38 (closer to $50 with tax and tips) per person with an hour and a...

From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff was attentive, quick to respond, and always ready with a smile. They exhibited a commendable level of professionalism, ensuring our dining experience was as seamless and enjoyable as possible.
Now, let's talk about the food. Hot pot is a dish that truly celebrates the art of cooking, and Shabu House has mastered this art form with a style all their own. The ingredients were impeccably fresh, each morsel radiating pure, unadulterated flavour. I was particularly impressed with the cleanliness and care taken in the preparation of the food. Every ingredient was well-washed and presented in a way that paid tribute to its natural beauty and taste.
The quality of the broth cannot be understated - it was rich and flavorful, providing the perfect base for the variety of ingredients. The balance of spices and the depth of the flavour profile were truly remarkable.
For hot pot enthusiasts and first-timers alike, Shabu House provides an experience that is a feast for the senses. The harmonious blend of excellent service and high-quality food make for a dining experience that is not just about satisfying the palate, but also about celebrating the joy of sharing a meal.

Read moreAll-You-Can-Eat shabu shabu in Fort Lee. It is part of a strip mall that has a decent amount of parking. If you are unable to find a spot on the main level, there is a lower level too. The staff is really friendly and attentive. They have 2 menu options to choose from: with or without AYCE meat and the prices differs between lunch and dinner. Your whole table needs to order the same option which makes sense. If you go with the standard buffet, you can eat as much you want from the self-serve food station in the allowed 90-min time limit. Don't take more than what you can eat because you will be charged extra for food that is wasted. I found that for lunch they sometimes don't refill items as frequently and they never have clams available. The hot station had spicy rice cakes, fried dumplings, and spaghetti. I don't come to shabu sahib for these but I notice they never refilled them even though they were pretty dry and empty during my two visit during lunch. Weekend dinners, everything tends to be fresher as they turn over more often. The variety of ingredients is pretty decent for the price and the space is very clean and comfortable. The free serving of mango sorbet that comes at the end is a great plate cleanser. Worth trying if you are ever in the...
