Subway — Restaurant in Fort Payne

Had a friend treat me to lunch at our local Subway which I rarely frequent due to the fact they do not take Subway coupons and are very skimpy on their portions unlike any other Subway I’ve ever been to. Customer service was great however the quality of the food was meh. When I asked why they were serving brown lettuce the employee informed me that the owner will not let them throw away any of the bad looking produce til the container is empty. Red flag number 1. Then when I went to their drink station I was in shock to see how filthy and nasty it was. I’m very OCD about cleanliness in a restaurant and you could tell it hadn’t been properly cleaned in forever. Red flag 2. Then while I was eating my sandwich I started looking around the entire restaurant and noticed just how nasty the entire place was and low and behold when I went to the restroom and discovered how nasty it was Red flag 3, I then decided I would never return to this particular Subway ever again. I even went as far as to ask what their health score was and was told they get a heads up the day before the health department comes and the employees are forced then and only then to clean everything thoroughly. Red flag 4 I’ve dealt with the health department for years and have never known of them giving any place of business an advance notice when they were coming which may have been a misconception by the employee cause one thing is for sure. Alabama’s health department is a heck of a lot more thorough and have much higher standards than other states I have worked in. To the owner of this establishment you need to properly go by health code standards and furthermore quit taking the tips made by employees and keeping them for yourself. That is the epitome of bad management as well as ownership, integrity and character. Especially when your place of business is the lowest paid in the industry. This is the first time in my life I have ever felt compelled to write a bad review of a place cause to me some folks thrive on being negative and ugly especially in the food industry. Ordered multiple sandwich trays and multiple veggies trays. Was quoted a price for all and made plans to pick up the following day. When we got home we noticed there were no veggie trays. When I called back I was told, "the night staff that took your order really doesn't know how to do catering orders. You didn't pay for any veggie trays." I explained we ordered 5 veggies trays and were given the quote. They refused to stand behind the quote saying the quote had left off the veggie trays and wanted $50 more dollars for the veggies trays.

If your night staff doesn't know how to take catering orders then don't let them take catering orders or train them.

The food is good however staff here was horrible. One of the men who actually claimed to be a manager had not only taken pictures of my vehicle while I was there but coincidentally my ex (who I have a protection order against for abuse against my child and I) waltzed into the building moments after said employee was seen with his phone out. They continued to talk about me and brag about the guns in their vehicle. Blatant disrespect and intimidation performed in this building with a lack of professionalism like I’ve never seen before.
