Arguably, I am going to have to say that Peking Chinese Restaurant, near downtown Fort Pierce, has the best Chinese, Mandarin, and Szechuan (spicy) food available in Fort Pierce, FLORIDA.
I have been coming to this Resteraunt since the 1980s, when I was just a little boy. My DAD and I would go there for lunch on the weekends. Of course like a lot of Americans do when it come to Chinese food in general, I would always order the same dish.
For me it was their 'Sweet and Sour Chicken'. For my dad, he can never get enough of their 'Happy Family'. A dish of Shrimp, Pork, and Beef/mixed Chinese vegetables combined in a brown type sauce.
Over the years, as I aged and learned to be adventurous, I started ordering dishes other than 'Sweet and Sour Chicken! Here are some treats that will leave your taste buds, and your stomach satiated.
Sgrimp Egg Foo Young w/ a thick brown sauce. | Moo Shoo pork or shrimp, with a delicious plum sauce | Happy Family | House Special Orange Chicken🌶 (tell them, please not spicy and they will accommodate you) | Crab Rangoons (they use more filling than most other Resteraunts) | Pepper Shrimp | Lemon Chicken (all white breast meat, fried whole then sliced...it's so good) | Crispy Peking Duck, 1/2 or whole with plum sauce (most don't order this, but it is worth it)
To sum up, Peking Chinese Restaurant. Their food is excellent. It is Chinese American food, just like the other Chinese Restaurants around. However, Peking in established. It's been an ever busy place for over 30 years, the staff are friendly, understand American English very well, their interior is cool old-school Chinese. Dining in is preferred by my family, but their take out is extremely good too. If you DO dine in, you'll get complementary oolong hot tea. The food is better, consider that it's wok to table immediately, and you are served by friendly staff and if something is not to your liking, they will replace it for anything else.
Its is the more pricey of your neighborhood, Fort Pierce Chinese Restaurants. However,...
Read moreBeen going to Peking for 25 yrs. Food has always been good. Restaurant can definitely use a remodel. Carpet is old, floor is sinking in some spots. I went with a group of 9 last Sat. I ordered egg drop soup, scallops and vegetable combo. Soup was very good. I got 6 scallops. I tried cutting a scallop with my fork, couldn't cut it. Even with a knife it was tough. I tried 1/2 a scallop. It tasted funny, a chemical taste. The vegetables were tasteless. I tried the other 1/2 scallop, tasted funny. Someone else at the table got the trio, which was lobster, shrimp and scallops. Their scallops tasted funny. I did not eat any of the other scallops. I told the waitress. She brought my plate to the kitchen. Came back and said she can give me a 50% discount. I expected more, at least an offer to have a different meal made. I get my bill, it was a 30% discount. The owner apparently changed his mind. Waitress said they served a lot of scallops that day and no one else complained. I said, if I had known I was only getting a 30% discount, I would have kept my meal and eaten the vegetables. She goes back to the kitchen and comes back with my food in a to-go container and very hot. Why was it hot? Were they getting ready to serve it to someone else? I thought no way in hell am I eating any of this now. All other meals, non scallops meals were good. It will be a long time before I go back. My leftover went directly into the garbage when I got home. I was very...

Well! We did it we finally found a Chinese restaurant we like! It's very close to the style of Cantonese cuisine which is geared more towards Northern style of Chinese cooking but geared towards American style. I spoke at length with a nice young man at the front of the house (Ben).
Ben also made me the best mango boba tea I've ever had, he followed my request of 1/2 sugar and the tea they use is outstanding! It's not only one tea bag per order but a fine quality green tea! It was lively and refreshing as we waited for our food.
Hubby and I are not big eaters but wanted to try as many of some common favorites to get and idea of their flavoring and methods.
We ordered the wonton soup 🍜 and let me tell you the broth alone earned my respect! The broth was smooth tasty not oily and the wontons were perfect almost beautiful and loaded with meat!
We also ordered the luncheon special general tsao's chicken which comes with fried or steamed rice, and a spring roll. We opted for a side of the Peking Special Lo Mein and so glad we followed Ben's recommendation.
Everything was delicious, not greasy and the best part flavorful without the flavors of oil which is a problem with most Chinese restaurants around here.
I told Ben we were so happy that we found a Chinese spot here that's "close" to San Francisco Chinese American food. We are going back...
