I finally made it to Jack's Donuts on North Anthony. I don't think they have a specific FB page yet, so I tagged the Jefferson location.
This is absolutely the Anthony location by Firefly and Concordia.
Mom came over the other day and she can never turn down trying a new donut shop in the area. We ended up getting two each. I picked the lemon old fashioned, and apple fritter. I like the fluffy texture of the lemon one, and then the doughy texture of the fritter. Both were really satisfying.
Mom got the twist, which they call a tiger tail. It's glazed and has two flavors. The powdered one, called a Paczki, as the nice young lady at the counter described it, is a little less fluffy dough, and a little stronger outside crushed, then 100% coverage with powdered sugar instead of just a light dusting over the top. Mom got apple. They also offer blueberry, strawberry, Bavarian cream and lemon. I think they are specific for fat Tuesday, so probably only a day or two before they disappear.
They do have a nice selection of coffee smoothie type drinks along with a few milk and juice choices in a refrigerator by the donut case.
Solid visit with the final total being $7.85. The powdered one and the fritter had a little bit of an upcharge.
This Anthony location has a nice big parking lot and definitely safer than trying to pull out of the Jefferson location's parking area.
Do you have a favorite donut type or flavor? I get an apple fritter every chance I can.

Read moreI LOVE local places. I'm disappointed with this one. I've been to their Anthony location 3 time and 2 out of the 3 have been lack luster and disappointing. First disappointing time was when I was being helped and the person behind the counter bags my donuts then set them behind her so she can help someone else at the register. Which normally I wouldn't be upset. But the thing that got me was she stopped waiting on me to wait on someone WHO WAS NOT IN LINE. This young guy was just standing at the register with his gf and she stopped waiting on me to help him. She made their coffee and rung them up THEN got around to helping the people in line. But oh well. Just today I went there after voting and the same girl from before helped me. I told her wear i wanted and she processed to pick up the ones... that looked like they were dropped... have, what you can tell were fingers poked into them. These donuts where already manhandled and she tried pawning them off on me. So don't go here. GO TO THE TOM'S DONUTS ON STATE AND WELLS. FAR BETTER DONUTS...
Read moreWe love Jack's! Have since the day they opened. They are so much better than Dunkin Donuts, and they've been our go-to for years. Until recently. I don't know what is happening during the making of the donuts, but there seems to have been a downwards shift of quality the last handful of times we have been there. We've gotten donuts that don't seem to be very fresh, and the filled donuts we got on our last trip left us super disappointed. I took a picture of our filled powdered lemon custard donut so you can see what I mean. We were left asking, "Where's the filling?" Every single filled donut we got looked like the picture. We're taking a break from Jack's and will be going to Rise N Roll for a while. Hopefully, Jack's step up their fame and gets back to making the quality donuts they used to serve when they...
