I shouldn't give them a rating yet because I haven't eaten at this location. I went to Dickies near University Dr yesterday and found out that they are closed down. I started calling the Dickies on Oakmont and it seems as if someone was picking up the phone then hanging it back up. I called several times while driving there and never got an answer, so I assumed they were also closed down and we are at BJ's Brewhouse. Well, still had not satisfied my craving for Dickies Barbecue, I decided to call the Oakmont location again and someone answered with "Hello" as if they answered a personal phone. I asked if this was a place of business and she said "yeah" I asked if this is Dickies, she again answered "yeah" so I asked if that's the way you answer the phone there? She said no and babbled some type of excuse, then proceeded to say "thank you for calling Dickies" (OMG) what the hell? Just from the unprofessionalism of answering the phone and the frustration of speaking with a moron, I based my 1 star on. I will be visiting today or tomorrow to eat lunch and I hope they get it together
UPDATE: Did visit this location and the actual visit was more disappointing than the phone call. Two young people were working, a guy working the meat section and a girl working the veggies. The guy put on gloves, opened a box that has the sandwich cover paper and didn't change his gloves and start cutting the meat. My husband had a 3 meat plate and I finally got the burnt end sandwich! I was soooo disappointed! The meat was cold, hard and tough...nothing like I expected. Even the bun on the sandwich was cold, although it was buttered. Also, the customer before us informed them that they were out of ice. They didn't refill the ice machine the entire time we were there even though no one else came into the restaurant. If fact, they disappeared and we never saw them again (see pic). I've never ever had terrible food and just as bad service at the location near University, but they are...
Ā Ā Ā Read more06/09/2024 we placed an order on line that included 12 sandwiches and two large sides (Cole slaw and potato salad) when we arrived about 4 minutes early. The young lady at the counter said it would another 5 minutes, which is completely understandable. I went back out to the car and came back in 5 minutes. The young lady told me I could get my own sauces from the sauce bar. As I was filling my own sauces you could hear a man saying āThese people donāt understand who I am but theyāll know soon.ā Fifteen minutes of this conversation goes by and the young lady starts loading up all of the sandwiches into one bag. Hands me the bag and thanks me. I explain there should be sides and she asks her loudmouth co-worker. He comes down I show him my order and he agrees that the order is wrong. He then goes and gets several small boxes and begins to create box lunches. I explain thatās not what I ordered. He proceeds to say āhey we are human and make mistakes and you aināt bothering me.ā I have no idea where this attitude came from. He proceeded to tell me āI have another job thatās can cause people big problems.ā I kindly let him know that has nothing to do with my order and it doesnāt matter to me. He then tells me to leave or heās calling the police. Meanwhile the nice young lady is doing everything she can to complete my order correctly. The rude worker continues to run his mouth and I agree to leave with or without the food if my money is refunded. He continues to try to intimidate me with cryptic speak about his other job. Eventually the young lady finishes my order minus any sauces and I depart.
Avoid this place like the plague unless you want to deal with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a half rack rib plate. It only came with 3 ribs even though a rack is 10-12 ribs and the website at least shows 4 ribs. Ordered mustard potato salad and got regular potato salad. It says it comes with Texas toast but it didn't. I called and they said it came with 3 ribs and they also said they no longer have Texas toast, at a BBQ joint, in Texas.
The ribs had basically one bite of meat and the rest was bone. If you want to sell bbq in Texas you're going to have to do better than this. To top it off, they are charging 20 dollars for this nonsense. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else for BBQ.
Edit: We decided to give them another try yesterday. My wife wanted brisket and this place is literally next door so off I went. I ordered online. A pound of chopped brisket, pickles, onions, and extra sauce. I picked it up and brought it home. There was the smallest cup of sauce you've ever seen. Forget about extra sauce, this wasn't even enough for half a pound of brisket.
It probably wouldn't have been so bad if the brisket wasn't so dry. But it was. Thirty dollars for a pound of dry BBQ and a miniscule amount of sauce. I went back today to get more sauce. They must put liquid gold in there because, while they used a larger container this time, it wasn't even halfway full. I don't know what to do anymore. If you like dry BBQ and no sauce I highly...
