Warning to Prospective Clients: Do Not Sign Up for Personal Training at Fitness Connection
I am writing to share a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience involving Fitness Connection’s personal training program, operated under the name Elevate Personal Training, which is actually part of Fitness Connection. I urge others to be extremely cautious before enrolling.
There are no free options, and contrary to what may be implied during sign-up, the program is not month-to-month. It is a binding one-year contract. Although there is a six-month option, it was never mentioned or offered during the sign-up process.
My son enrolled in the personal training program believing it was a flexible, month-to-month commitment. I can say with confidence that he would never knowingly agree to a long-term contract. After signing up, he received a job opportunity in Arizona—where Fitness Connection has no locations. When he informed the company of his need to cancel due to relocation, they told him, for the first time, that he was in a 12-month contract and still owed another month.
He followed up with emails and phone calls, providing all requested documentation confirming his move and employment out of state. Despite that, Fitness Connection still refused to release him from the contract—a contract he had no idea he was locked into.
In May, out of pure frustration and a desire to move on, my son paid nearly $1,000 just to be done with it. He heard nothing for weeks, and assumed the matter was finally closed. Then today—months later—he received a call from a collection agency, now claiming he owes for two additional months.
This entire experience has been deceptive, stressful, and financially draining. It reflects a serious lack of transparency and professionalism. In our experience, the individuals involved have been misleading at best, and dishonest at worst.
Please think twice before doing business with Fitness Connection or Elevate Personal Training. This is not a company that stands by fair or...
Read moreKing and Cyruss went above and beyond for me and mine. Made us all comfortable and did everything they could to help us. Highly recommend.
That's the short version. But here comes the full deal. Gym is clean, well organized, and has plenty of great equipment. It is family friendly and the women's only area makes people comfortable and feel secure. That being said, the stars of the show are the staff. As I said, King went above and beyond, going over the whole tour of the gym twice, talking to my family after I did a preliminary look around, and even stuck around after he was set to leave to make sure we got signed up and set. Some in my family have never, NEVER felt comfortable in a gym, and they signed up on the spot because of his attitude.
Furthermore, Cyruss is a life saver. I mean that literally, not figuratively. I watched as he saw a family member struggling and nearly quitting. The moment he saw her, he walked over and started talking to her, making her laugh and feel comfortable. Within minutes, she was starting a new workout and all that "quit" was melting away. In a couple short weeks, he has turned a never been to the gym, never exercised woman into someone who looks forward to going every opportunity she gets. It's not a one size fits all, "Just try harder" mentality, it's a "Let's do what we need to for YOU to succeed" mentality. And that's just ONE of my family, with the others (including myself) getting stronger every day. He has been compassionate, energetic, encouraging, and a complete game changer. If you're looking for a personal trainer, he is worth every cent and every second, and then some.
I mentioned the two of them, but I know there's more. We'll be working with more of their staff during our journey here. But if you're still reading this, believe me when I say that if you're wondering if this place is worth it, rest...
Read moreNot only was I somewhat pressured to try the assessment free personal training session even tho I didn’t want to. But then the personal trainer “Chris” was very passive aggressive about talking about my eating habits, after all that and the workout, he pressured me to pay 50$ for personal training and when I told him I didn’t have the money, he said that I have all this money for fast food and stuff but not 50$ for training, and then he told me to call my boyfriend and suggested I call my parents for money and when I told him I don’t have the money, he asked me if I was actually serious about losing weight, I said yes but I don’t have the money. Then he condescendingly asked me “how are you going to eat then if you don’t have money” and I said I have groceries at home. He then gave up and said, call me tomorrow if you come up with the money and basically said bye. I had to walk out of the gym basically feeling attacked and shamed for not having money for personal training. Completely changed my outlook on the company and the people they hire. You don’t know what people are going through and to shame someone indirectly and basically tell someone to ask other people for money is crazy. I have debt and i have a lot going on, I can barely afford this gym membership let alone personal training. It’s nice to know they don’t actually care, they’re just...
