The ice cream here is amazzzing! First of all, the owner Natalie is super kind and goes above and beyond to fix any issues (they are rare but no single restaurant or establishment is perfect and I've gotten their ice cream for my family and I literally a TON of times and only once had a small issue with a pint of ice cream I took home); the other staff members at their locations are wonderful as well! I treated my mother and daughter to ice cream just yesterday and the workers there were not only nice but they worked extremely quickly while also being attentive and helpful (the line was out the door and they took care of everyone in it in less than 5 minutes or so). Secondly, let's just talk about the delicious offerings this ice cream parlor has.. They keep a permanent menu of ice creams that they serve year round. Each item is a type of ice cream that you can find other places but Melt puts a unique and tasty spin on all of them. I haven't tried everything yet (because I am hooked on some of the seasonal flavors) but the ones I have tried are sublime. The vanilla flavor called 'Beans' has Mexican vanilla beans I believe and has a subtle but lovely flavor. The Salt Lick is a creamy caramel with a touch of saltiness to really amp of the flavor. Their cookies and cream flavor also has a mildly salty base along with the cookie crumbs and makes it the best version of cookies and cream that I've ever tasted. I think 95% of ice cream companies drop the ball and forget to add a pinch of salt to the base and those out on adding that extra oomph! to their flavors... Melt really knows how to appease the taste buds loll. My all time favorite flavors though are their Berry Berry Pie (a creamy base that features strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries and has this cornmeal crust crumble that they definitely don't skimp on) and it is everything I never knew I needed in an ice cream! I've never been a fan of strawberry ice creams but this flavor is just next level and the crunchiness of the crumble in it just melds beautifully with the bright and refreshing flavor of the berries. My second favorite ice cream (but this is actually favorite ice cream flavor of all time) is their Texas Lavender & Honey Crunch (it's a tx lavender ice cream base that has a delicious rich honey swirl throughout - the kicker though is the little chunks of honeycomb that are strewn throughout it).. the honeycomb provides a little crunch here and a little chewy crunchiness there and the Texas lavender base has the perfect level of lavender flavor. Lavender is a hard flavor to get right. Too often I will get lavender flavored items that I cannot barely taste barely if it all or their is wayyy too much lavender and it becomes almost soapy tasting and it takes over all other flavors. Melt does the flavor perfectly though and while their is a strong lavender flavor in every bite.. the creamy sweetness of the ice cream is still prevalent, the honey still layers the lavender to create the perfect bite and the honeycomb provides a delicious addition to it as well. It all works so freaking well and I have never been more impressed or obsessed with a flavor loll! I also wanted to mention that they always have a non dairy option on their menu as well so even those with a dairy intolerance can enjoy their ice cream!! The pricing is a little high but not so much more that it's overkill. Yes it may be a bit more than what you would pay for a pint at the grocery store but I believe it's about the same as any other ice cream parlor plus it is definitely worth every penny. All in all, I definitely recommend trying Melt Ice Cream! If you're not familiar with the unique flavors then feel free to ask to taste several of them to find you sweet...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe one-star rating is for the ice cream, it was good - not great, but good. However, after the level of service my family received I wouldn't return even if it was great. We patiently stood in line listening to the male employee yell at every patron to close the door. He advised they were letting the air out. I would think that if this was of the upmost importance you'd have a sign stating such. I felt bad for the small children and their mothers who were there to get ice cream and have their experiences ruined by his brashness. There's a way to deliver everything, even boundaries of an establishment.
My daughter, sister and I were run over by a group of sorority girls exiting from the front. We had never been there so we didn't find their exiting from the front abnormal. However, when we were leaving we were yelled at, while he was servicing other customers to the far left of the register, for turning the wrong way at the register and attempting to exit the same way the sorority girls exited. Again, he said nothing derogatory to them only well wishes for their evening.
As we were ordering, we were talked over, rushed in making a decision, and met with a very condescending tone. Again, this is our first time being there so we had no idea what to expect. I would hope a line of people didn't stand there for that. We didn't know you could even "try" flavors until a young lady came around us and told my sister she could. We got the ugliest stares from him. My 15-year-old and I just guessed what we wanted and hoped it stuck. I had rocky road that was good, her lavender honey ice cream she threw away. The texture and flavor weren't good. Once we got to the register to check out with the young lady and my card declined. Unbeknownst to me, I had a fraud alert from a foreign country. He came over to see what was taking so long and yelled, "declined. declined." I simply used a different card as I was perplexed why it didn't work but I'd resolve that issue directly with USAA. My husband is a service member and I've never been mote humiliated in my life. I appreciate USAA taking care of us and protecting our finances. With that said, you may want to train your employees to exercise patience, empathy and not make assumptions about one demographic or the other. I'm a learning and talent development consultant, I'd be happy to come in and help develop talent and work to align the brand with excellence. Simply having cute signage and space doesn't provide a total customer experience that makes people return. He ruined it for me.
I wish I had his name but he's unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. He worked Saturday, April 1 on the evening shift.
I cannot in good faith recommend MELT. The whole experience was distasteful and off-putting for my entire family. I wish you all the best and hope the customer experience improves...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIce cream: hand crafted, unique, and always the right amount of flavors. They change flavors every month so you don't get tired of the same old flavors (except they always have chocolate chocolate and vanilla bean) they always have a good variety, there's always something for everyone, whether you like fruity flavors, weird combinations, or classic flavors they even let you sample them before deciding which one you want My favorite so far has been BERRY BASIL and TEA TIME :) Sometimes they do fun events with food trucks or with other local places. They had these macaron ice cream once, and it was literally the best thing in the world, it was literally heaven in my mouth When there isn't a flavor I'm interested in I always go for the chocolate chocolate. I usually don't like chocolate ice cream, I'm more of a vanilla girl. But the chocolate ice cream at melt is the only chocolate ice cream i could eat everyday. It's rich and not too sweet. It's perfect.
Decor: super cute and hipster-y with their cute polaroids, it's great for cute dates, family fun, or just group hangouts. Outside there's a chalkboard you can draw on
Service: Super friendly with happy smiling faces, where you can't help but have a huge smile on your face
Conclusion: let your heart MELT with the friendly service and...
