The food was good but the woman behind the register was completely useless. I came in to order lunch for my husband and myself to-go. When I initially ordered I had ordered 3 tacos and guac. Came out as just two tacos and guac. I also noticed that the El Capitan was not a burrito and for some reason I thought it was, that’s fine, my mistake. I go back up to order and explain I want a El Capitan with Barbacoa in burrito form with the rice beans etc. She understood and put in a chicken burrito which I didn’t catch on the screen… I luckily asked before leaving and upon realizing it was chicken I decided to keep the burrito as opposed to making it an issue. I then explained to her that my husband wanted a a El Capitan with Barbacoa and the GRANJERO filling, I inquired if that was a thing and she said they are two different tacos but made it seem like they could do both in one so I said great! Let’s do that. She rings it up as a chicken Capitan and I said 3x “my husband doesn’t eat chicken so just to confirm you are getting Barbacoa for this”. 3x I asked just to be sure and she assured me it would be Barbacoa…. I looked at everything in the car when I left and saw once again, I got a reg El Capitan taco without the extra filling but had no energy to have her fix it… I did see Barbacoa so I left. Upon getting home my husband realized they did chicken and Barbacoa to that final taco making it inedible for him.
$50 later - ended up with a burrito I didn’t want, an inedible taco and multiple ordering issues which could have easily been avoided with the woman working would have enjoyed her job just a little bit and was willing to help a customer through an order. Unfortunate.
The one edible taco my husband received was good so it’s unfortunate the employee was so unhelpful. As someone that worked in retail for many, many years, we all have bad days but this was totally unacceptable. Customer facing employees, especially in the food world, should be helpful when customers come in for the 1st time asking basic questions.
I have never written a bad review for any place of business but felt this needed to be noted. If you’ve never been,...
Read moreSalsa Limon used to be the best place in Fort Worth for tacos. They were incredibly good, but a few things have changed that really takes a good taco and makes it so much less. First of all, the asada used to always have a nice sear on the meat. The charred protein from the flat top used to set it off. Nowadays when I order an asada taco or El Capitan, the meat always comes out looking steamed. It is cooked, but it just doesn't have that nice sear, that it used to. I remember going to the Salsa Limon food truck before they even had brick and mortar locations and it was an absolutely incredible taco. It makes me sad to see it treated this way now. I'm not sure why this is happening, maybe laziness or rushing orders, not really sure, but it takes something that can be great and makes it kind of lame. The sear on the meat it is where all the texture and flavor really comes through with the marinade they use. Meat that looks like steamed wet nasty shouldn't even be called 'asada'. Secondly, everytime I order rice and beans (which also used to be incredibly good), now comes out often tasting like it was reheated, dried out chunks of refried beans leftovers, and rice that obviously has that "been in the fridge over night flavor" just sucks when you know they used to do all this stuff correctly. I know running restaurants has gotten difficult and the margins are tighter than ever, but that is isn't an excuse for taking something where you have all the correct culinary fundamentals and then allow laziness or rushing orders to force a decline in the overall product. Salsa Limon used to be a place I would recommend whenever someone would ask where to get good tacos in North Texas. It's just sad to see laziness get the better of a place that I used to consider a shining example of how to do a...
Read moreUPDATE: after the below review and message from their customer service I reached out via email. Not only did Salsa Limon refund me for my entire purchase (which included more than just breakfast tacos), they gave me more than I paid for. I haven’t experienced customer service like this in a really long time. If you do happen to have an unfortunate incident with your food, they will bend over backwards to make it right.
Usually love Salsa Limon… their homemade salsa is the best I’ve tasted …Their breakfast tacos are unreal - Fried egg with mashed potatoes - or were until tonight. I ordered a bunch only to get home and see they’ve changed their formula? The eggs are now a soft scramble and there are no more mashed potatoes… They are a tiny cubed situation and the flavor is not the same. Actually, quite flavor less (No seasoning?) and a weird texture. It looks like someone tried to mix the potatoes and the eggs on the grill while the eggs were cooking (as opposed to cooking them separately as per usual)… It did not turn out well. The mashed potatoes were the whole reason to get the breakfast taco! Unbelievably disappointing. If I didn’t live 20 minutes away, I would take them back. I’m going to have to try to fix it Which completely defeats the purpose of ordering out, but I hate wasting food more! The only reason there are two stars is because the bean and cheese burrito was decent - although it was more beans and cheese in a taco as opposed to a mini burrito, but it still...
