Leaving my review mainly to advise consumers of this. It was not posted visibly on the menu or on the website or anywhere that I saw in the establishment. Most people don't carry cash these days for safety reasons, and those who do rarely carry enough to cover a group meal of this sort. This is not the sort of thing you should have to discover as a surprise at the end of a meal, or by digging into Google reviews.
In my case, I was parked nearby, and I had sufficient cash in my car. I'll never eat here again, though, because why would I eat somewhere that doesn't take credit card? I construe that policy as overly elitist, especially for a place peddling sub-par service and mid-range food. And it's disrespectful to one's customers. Especially when that critical detail isn't disclosed or explained up front. How many people must come here and be embarrassed when they either can't pay or have to ask their date to pitch in? I expect more from a place that bills itself as an upscale hole-in-the-wall.
Fort Worth's food culture has declined substantially in the past decade, and this establishment is a prime example.
The other big warning I have is that this place has barely any indoor seating. You will be outside among the Texas heat and copious flies. You expect this sort of thing from certain venues, like microbrews, or other patio-centric restaurants--but if you're trying to plan a romantic date between April and October or December and February, this isn't your spot.
The food is OK. It was fresh and not unenjoyable, but a little bland and unremarkable. Pretty plating with minimal taste. Again, one of the standard hallmarks of the decline of FW food culture. I had the tenderloin, my date had the chicken with caper cream sauce. Both were B-.
The pricing was fair. The service was slow. It's BYOB. They don't take reservations, but you won't need one because most of the seating is outside, and half of it is empty.
There is only one toilet -_-
Oh, and a footnote--the bruschetta was laughably disappointing. It was four of those tiny bread crackers, the ones that come in a bag of Chex Mix, along with maybe a quarter cup of balsamic chutney to scoop onto them. I'm still laughing about it. I just can't stop. Why put this on a menu, anywhere? Even Chili's would turn their nose at this. Seriously. If QuickTrip sold a bruschetta, this is what I...
Read moreI was so excited to go to Nonna Tata having read all the reviews. We have attempted to go twice before only to be disappointed because the place was full. So on our 3rd attempt we made sure we arrived early at 5.15p.m it does not open until 5.30p.m Yayy we were the first to be seated and the first to give our order for our appetizer to the waitress. The inside is so tiny that the 5 of the 6 tables inside were full within minutes. The waitress returned to explain the menu ...one of the specials was not available however a new special (baked risotto) was on instead. We ordered our entrees ...myself ordering the new special baked risotto. Every other table seemed to receive their appetizer's however nothing seemed to be coming our way. Then a girl came from the kitchen and placed the entree salads on our table....bit strange as we had not yet received the appetizer. I attempted to catch the waitress's eye as I could see her in the kitchen ...however she returned to the front of house only to hand a menu to a new customer, speak with another new customer, hand out glasses to a table before i could catch her eye. I asked where our appetizers were and she proceed to tell us she had forgotten to place the order ...considering we were the first to place an order with her i found this quite annoying however she then proceeded to tell me that the special i had ordered 20 minutes before was not available ...I was quite shocked by this as she had been in no rush to let me know the dish was not available however she had been quick enough to tell us about it in the first place. We were the first customers in and half an hour later we were the only people not to be eating and in fact were informed that no food was even on its way out to us. I need to point out that there were 2 waitresses serving the 3 tables of 2, 1 table of 4, and 1 other person. Needless to say i can not comment on the food however the place is tiny and the fly's did get annoying. Will not be returning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even worth 1 star but i am unable to...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting the BYOB, cash only, Nonna Tata's. It's a cute place in the popular Magnolia neighborhood. We chose to sit inside the small, quaint, 5 table dining room. We were greeted and seated immediately. The server/hostess was super friendly and efficient. She saw we had a bottle of wine (from Neighborhood Wine down the street) gave us an opener and glasses without us needing to ask. They have an eclectic selection of glasses so ask for the style you need. We started with the homade foccia, and that proved to be the highlight. We ordered 2 pasta dishes and they arrived at the perfect time. Long enough for a glass of wine and good conversation. Our server chatted with us a little and checked in on us. Timing of the pasta was perfect, I just wish the food was. The ricotta gnocchi was gummy, clumpy and served in a baked dish. 2nd reviewer: I agree with everything so far. I would suggest if you BYOB, you BYOG too (bring your own glasses). I really appreciate the service they offered, and I so wanted to love the food, but I didn't. I feel like they had the dishes pre-made and stuck them in the broiler to reheat. My house made pasta was delicious, but the overall dish was just meh. I'm glad we went, but probably will not go back. Last thing. When we paid, the change was 1 large bill and 4 ones. I wish it were different for...
