Taqueria Melis — Restaurant in Fort Worth

I never leave reviews, but this has been the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I visited once last year and was so impressed by the authenticity and flavor I I knew I had to return someday, but they have since completely dropped the ball. Ordered two gorditas, six tacos and a torta with two sides of rice and beans on Saturday afternoon. Paid $42 but received store bought and canned food which was packaged inappropriately. Corn tortillas looked and tasted straight from a package, and were doubled up for no reason. Rice was almost entirely flavorless. Refried pinto beans were completely flavorless and straight from a can, and the small portion was packed in a much larger styrofoam container that was practically spilling over in the bag with cheese on top that wouldn't melt. I asked for the tacos "with everything" but received them plain and dry, with a foil wrapped side of cubed tomatoes, cilantro, and the same store bought shredded cheese which didn't crumble or melt. I have never received tacos without any kind of onion like this, ever. The torta came with choice of meat, shredded lettuce, thin avocado slices, spicy green salsa and jalapeño slices. I have never had a torta (or any item before ever) with salsa and jalapeños added in by surprise like this. My sister and I had to trade orders because she was unable to enjoy her meal like that. The meat ("bistec"/steak) was decent and the only redeeming quality to be found. I grew up on the border and understand what Mexican food should be, as opposed to Tex Mex. This wasn't a mediocre Tex Mex place before, but maybe they've hit some hard times...it feels like a charity case at this point. Save your money, you're better off going literally...

Never had an issue until today! I don’t care for rude faces nor unfriendly greetings so that doesn’t bother me…. BUT when I specifically order my food and ask for corn tortillas and if they could please put them in separate plates from the rest of the food I expect to at least have my ordered done correctly . I get mistakes happen and they were busy. I kindly asked the lady in the front if she could remake my tacos because they were made with flour tortilla she got a attitude and said” um next time let them know you want corn, but I’ll just give you the tortillas and you can put the meat there” ABSOLUTELY not I’m allergic and there’s a reason why I told her to make them with corn in the first place. She Got upset because I didn’t have time to wait another 20 mins so I asked if I could just get my refund. So apparently they do not care about their loyal customers. She seemed to be miserable...

Wow!!! My wife had me avoiding this place because of the exterior appearance.... well she had some coworkers tell her it was the closest thing to “El Paso” Mexican food they have been able to find and she finally relented and let me try it! Are there 6 Stars???? Beef Gorditas are amazing and I have been back 3 more times for them - the wife is hooked on the chicken tacos and their tamales were delicious! Fair warning: CASH ONLY - but worth it! I will eventually get to try more but these two were so good I’ve been stuck on them!!! Went one morning for breakfast tacos, potato was good, bacon was crispy, and the ham was amazing!! They don’t seem to put salt on anything, so you get the salt packet on the side.... I skip the salt and add a few drops of the green salsa! Best...
