I have been coming to this place with a friend pretty regularly for some years now. The service has always been hit or miss and although we tried pretty much everything on the menu, the food was always flavorless but we kept coming for the only good menu food item (truffle fries) and the atmosphere. I say that as not a picky person by the way, I go out to eat more than I should and I generally enjoy the meals I have but I feel like everything EXCEPT the truffle fries here is very bland. I don't understand how you mess up a chicken sandwich or pizza... but anyways
Today was just the final straw. We waited close to an HOUR for water despite asking multiple times. We were told that they were out of water glasses........ not even joking. I don't blame the server for this, this is a clear representation of the management here, I mean HOW DO YOU RUN OUT OF CUPS? I do not mind waiting long for food especially given there were games to play, but waiting an hour for water is just unacceptable. The ironic thing is we watched several people get alcoholic and what looked like lemonade drinks in cups before we got our water (and they came in way after us) so there were cups...? Anyways we had to chase down a different worker and practically beg for water but we had asked no less than 5 times over the span of an hour for it which is unacceptable for any restaurant.
We had to ask for other things such as sauces multiple times, and we were never checked up on but we feel as though our server was overwhelmed, so I do not place blame on her directly. The management needs to get their things together and not allow ONE server to run 20 tables (not exaggerating, she told us she was the only server tonight). That should have never been allowed, be it so that people need to be put on a waitlist and wait an hour or longer but today was unacceptable.
Cherry on top was the house margs. Literally tastes like a salt bomb, and we've had this drink in the past and it NEVER tasted like the saltwater that it did today. We would have been open to getting it remade but our server never came, we had to flag her down when we were done eating and ready to pay.
Very disappointed in the management running Game Theory. My visit was 12/30 7ish.
Edit: forgot to add, the games are disgusting. ): there's food pieces, grease, stickiness COATING all the games, and missing/broken pieces. 3.50 library fee per person to play a game that could probably be ground zero for the...

First off, I want to say we miss the old owner as GT is no longer the same GT we know and love. I am part of an online gaming community that loves to meet up outside of gaming. Currently we have around 1.4k people in this community. As this community is based in Dallas, I don't get to recommend places in FW very much.
We decided to do a group hang on 9/16/23 (this review is late I know), and I brought a group of 12. I called ahead and they said it was fine, when we got there we were in a few cars and not allowed to sit until the whole group was there, which is completely ok, but my group ended up just standing around and taking lots of space until they decided to start our 2 hours early. (You get two hours if you bring a big group, which again, is fine).
During this time there were other groups that came in, my boyfriend who is obsessed with Game Theory decided to come join which was when they said they would move him to the bottom of the list and that he would need to sit at another table by himself as they would not allow for him to sit at our table. We asked what the wait was, I could just sit separate with him at the other table. They said the wait was now an hour long, so my bf could either just stand and wait for an hour or leave, but under no circumstances could he join our table bc it was full.
I understand GT is a small place and with that comes things like fire hazards and whatnot, but they were incredibly rude the entire time. It was obvious that they did not care whether he stayed or left. The server we had also stood in the back with other servers and glared at us, and when walking by our table would glare and was not friendly to us at all. I have been a server before and I understand being being frustrated as well as super busy but they were so unkind my whole group eventually just left for Locust Cidar, across the street. I won't go into details but we were there for around an hour and our server acted like she just wanted us to leave.
This is actually incredibly sad as GT was my bfs favorite place to hang, and a regular place for our gaming community to go. We regularly told newcomers that GT was a great place to attend if you live by DFW but have since removed it from our list of recommended places. Our group will no longer host events at this venue.
A pro is that Locust Cidar has an amazing atmosphere and the kindest servers just...
Read moreFirst timers here. Our group was two adults, a 13 yr old, and a baby. Hesitant to visit this place at 6pm on a Saturday for obvious reasons, but decided to give it a try anyways. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly man who took down our names and told us we were third in line to get a table. We waited 30-40 minutes, but that was to be expected since we knew everyone was probably playing games before/during/after their meals. Once sat, our server Kadin greeted us, discovered that we were first time guests, and was genuinely enthusiastic to have us in. He gave us fair warning that they were short-staffed, but promised to give us the best service possible and even offered game suggestions from their enormous game library. We started with rosemary truffle fries and crab dip for appetizers. The dip was pretty good, cheesy and warm, accompanied by warm salty chips. The truffle fries just about knocked us out of our seats. Fantastically crunchy on the outside, yet warm and soft on the inner. Completely coated in Parmesan, salt, rosemary, and truffle oil. We would highly recommend these for anyone. I enjoyed a Mango Mimosa cider, then Kadin suggested a Mango Paleta from Rahr and Sons (Literally across the street from us) with tajin on the rim. He wasn't wrong. I had a couple of those 👍. My family enjoyed their food - my 13 year old son tore up the chicken sandwich with a smile, and my girlfriend made her shrimp tacos disappear in no time. I ordered the mini chicken pot pie and a mini Aussie pie... They did not disappoint with flaky crust and packed with flavor. We played a couple of board games before heading out. The games we played seem to be well-maintained and not missing pieces. I appreciated that we were asked to turn in each game to the host stand rather than the shelf. I like to imagine that each game is sanitized and quality-controlled after each play, but I have no idea. Overall we had a great time. We loved the game library, super friendly staff, and delicious food. My son commented that he wished the menu had more variety to offer, and I guess that's fair. We can't wait to come back with friends...
