Bob Evans — Restaurant in Fort Wright

Myself and my two small kids came on a busy Sunday— food was great but staff treated us like we were nuisance.

There was a waitress— short blonde haired woman probably in her 50s or 60s speeding back and forth with tables who sounded like she’s a regular smoker— who sharply and abruptly told me “You can’t have this high chair at the end of the table. Tripping hazard.” As I’m visibly struggling to seat my children.

Alright; no harm no foul. I understand.

I don’t have many options to put my 10 month old son’s pumpkin seat somewhere so I put it behind my chair. The same waitress yet again abruptly tells me, “We really can’t have this here. There’s people with canes walking around and someone could trip.”

I got very close to publicly correcting the waitress in front of people— we are the customers ma’am: I’m a dad alone with two small children, I don’t have much space to put this seat. I literally had to put the pumpkin seat under our table. Had it been different circumstances where I had my wife or one of my parents, we would’ve had no space to put the pumpkin seat somewhere.

On top of that, the waitress directly serving us was rushing us to order our meals as I’m settling down my children— “We have a table of 11 coming behind you, so can we get your order now?” Uh, alright. I’ve had maybe 5 minutes at our table settling my kids down and just started looking at the menu.

Food was great, but obvious some waitresses not great under pressure. The place felt more catered towards the older people there but a young family like us were seen as annoying and getting in the way.

Food was good. The restaurant was clean. Are wait was less than five minutes. The waitress was friendly but forgot a lot and was not observant to needing refills. The place was a bit busy. So given this, I will give Bob Evans a three star rating. Normally Bob Evans gets a four star rating from me because of their incredible food. Update: 07/24/2023 My friends food was good. Had to remind the waitress about his biscuits. My food was okay. Lettuce on my sandwich was getting brown in spots and the tomato was far from ripe. I was very disappointed because you discontinued the Vegetable Beef soup. Had the chicken noodle soup and it was good but not near as good as your vegetable beef. Our waitress seemed distracted. She knew I did google reviews because I said I would mention the vegetable Beef soup in my google review. She only brought my friend his coffee refill after being prompted and never refilled my beverage. I hope Bob Evan's is not headed in the same direction as Frisch's. It would be a shame to see a restaurant who based their business on customer service and quality, homecooked food go south simply to...

Came to eat dinner with my family. Ordered the cheddar potato soup which is supposed to come topped with bacon and scallions, it came without either. Husband ordered the goat cheese omelette, no mushrooms, came with mushrooms and no goat cheese topping. Grandmother ordered a meal that should have had bread and never received bread. The server hurriedly dropped off the check too fast for us to ask for our missing items. We asked another server if we might speak with a manager. He came and we let him know politely that we were missing several items. He quickly stated "I will cover the check and discipline the server." And left the table. When the waitress next came by I asked if I could please have my bacon and scallions. She told me those are an upcharge. I asked if I could see a menu to check. I showed her that the menu said "topped with bacon and scallions" she told me that's not what that means and that asking for bacon is an upcharge. We didn't have to pay so I cannot complain too much but I wouldn't recommend going here if you enjoy your meal coming out as stated...
