I’VE HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THAT LEFT ME SADDEN, HORRIFIED, AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.
Went in to fix a broken iMac screen, was told it was simple and would be about a week cause they had to order the screen and install. A week later they told me they’ve ordered the wrong part and had to pay more on top of what I already paid cause the screen costed more, I should have taken this as a sign. After the repair I received my computer but now it had an overheating problem. I was told that it was the fan and it would cost only a $100 to fix, so that($200 extra on top of the initial quote)When this happened I thought hey why don’t I have them install a large capacity 4tb solid state drive aswell. This was another $100 dollar service.
When I got the computer back the drive came up as a digital partition with the name changed to 4tb. So what was in my computer was nothing more then the original hard drive and a partition named 4tb and placed on the desktop to look like there was another drive. So it was just the original 2tb ssd. I brought this up to Kevin and he said to leave it with him and theyll fix it. The 4tb ssd was returned and was told to buy a smaller drive so it can work, tried to up sale me or bring another and theyll install it because I’ve already paid for the service. I was fed up and ask for the $100 back as a refund for services not rendered only to be told that I need to bring the computer back in so they can retrieve a SATA cable left inside after it’s removed I can get a refund. Questioned the the fake drive partitioned on my desktop only to be deflected with a BS answer that it didnt work, I didnt go back
Bob later offered a refund for the whole repair after I brought this to his attention only if I give them back the screen but I couldn’t do this because during this I went ahead and installed the 4tb ssd myself. During the process I cracked the new screen because of a dumb mistake. It was over glued. So I told him I couldn’t return the screen because it was cracked and I just wanted a refund on the last service. During my installion of the second drive I also found a dusty old fan that was supposedly replaced with a new fan meaning Kevin lied that it was replaced to fix the overheating and there was no sata cable inside that they supposedly need to retrieve. Kevin acted knowledgeable and capable of doing this job but they have a third party who does the work, said the drive couldn’t be installed when it was returned. Guess what? I installed it myself and it works great. Initially I went to them to save time.
I could have done it myself but I wanted to support a local business and Kevin was a cool guy to talk to. In the end it did not save any time and the incompetence I’ve experienced after this whole ordeal has left me with a sour taste in my month. For months I was trying to resolve this with the owner Bob. He ghosted me because he only deals with emails and was too busy with his life at the time of the incidents. Sold the business to a Lynn a couple of months later and I had to tell her this whole story. She couldn’t do anything and just apologized. Then I just brushed it off until I saw that this business had this google maps and Kevin’s and bobs name is mentioned so I thought I leave my honest review.
They really are not professional when things go wrong. You can try to say you’re sorry Bob for my experience but it’s all just talk at this point. Cause recently before this review I have tried to email asking to resolve this with no luck.
Went in May 2023 and paid around $750 by late July. Yes this repair took months. I only wanted the last $100 dollars refunded for a service not performed that’s when I realized I was lied to and taken advantage of. A digital partition as physical drive isn’t going to fool a tech savvy person that know how to explore a computer. I can only imagine the older folks with no tech knowledge that theyve gotten cash from. It’s so sad. Thanks for reading this, it feels a little nice to let this bottled anger off my chest. Also to anyone going to them,...
Read moreA+ experience! Got my 7 yr old Lenovo laptop’s battery replaced from here today and the experience was exceptional from the very beginning. Got quotes from multiple vendors through Yelp and Experimax’s was fair. Went to 2 other vendors initially who gave me absurd prices and pushed “diagnostics” on me that my laptop did not need. It would not power on unless plugged, I knew all it needed was a new battery. I dropped by their office, got a quote in person from Kevin who told me it did sound like a battery problem. No other diagnostics pushed my way. He was also helping an older gentleman before me (and you know how talkative some older folks can get sometimes) and Kevin was super patient with him and I applaud him for it. Anyway, after 2 business days, I got a call from Kevin that my battery has arrived and it took him less than 1 hr to change my battery. Now my baby is holding power again. He gave me 90 day warranty as well. He said some people have difficulty finding their place since it’s inside a corporate building but I found it without a problem. Don’t hesitate to use them for your tech repair needs! They are professional and fast while being affordable. Highly recommended....
Read moreI would put zero stars if it was an option. I urge you not to do business with this company. I used Kevin Nonnemaker at Experimax in Fountain Valley for data transfer services and bought a used computer from him to replace my damaged one. I trusted Kevin who was referred by good friends. The computer he said I was buying was a 2024 Dell AIO i5, 14th gen, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd, 27" monitor 4k; instead, I walked out with a 2020 Dell AIO i3, 11th gen, 8gb ram, 256gb not ssd, 24" monitor generic. Within 24 hours I contacted him and he refuses to refund my cash money. His offer to upgrade the memory does not fix the inferior unit he knowingly sold me. Also, the data recovery and transfer was never completed. I did not buy any other computer. The details of the deal was made by Kevin, not the owner who was away and not involved. I have written proof from Kevin of the computer I agreed to buy, not a different model as may be suggested. So regardless of all else, the wrong computer was handed over to me. Will Experimax refund my money or not? A simple yes or no is requested to be...
