We've been wanting to come here since it opened and finally we made it. We should have been eating here a long time ago. First off, it's sized in classic middle eastern style, about 6 tables inside and a nice outdoor patio of about a dozen or so more. This is definitely ambience for the cuisine that deserves a high-five. Smart. The staff are super friendly and also, traditional in how they treat the customer. You are 100% valued and you aren't overwhelmed with service. It's discreet and kind. We love that. The wood fired oven is SUPER cool and fully professional. Loved watching stuff go in and come out and the chef working openly, without ego. Just doing what he does best. So it's definitely a place for small gatherings, definitely romantic, definitely hip. The food is insane great. Since it was 1st visit for us, we let our eyes betray our stomachs. We got appetizers of awesome dolmas, and the amazing mushrooms. Perfect in every way, super flavorful and delicious. We both got the shish kebab, hers was chicken, mine lamb. Hers came in juicy and tender, lovingly spiced and sizzling. Same with the lamb. Spice was perfect. One of the rare times I didn't need salt n pepper, the food simply shines. I got the iced tea because I was driving, old lady loved the vodka cranberry mixer. They also served a beautiful bread with sesame, olive oil and subtle flavors that just let it compliment everything. They seemed sad we didn't want desert; but we got sooo much great food, we couldn't. We promised that next time we will. And there will be a next time, and one after that and another and another....we have found THE spot to take friends or family when they come here to GV. Come, eat, be fulfilled and sent home knowing you found a real diamond in the middle of the desert. Awesome job Brindi's!! Would give way more stars if...
Read moreBeing this a local 'new' restaurant I really wanted to give it a great review - and was really looking forward to a wood-fired pizza!! Alas, not the case. Upon entering there were just a few tables/chairs and they were 'scattered'. The waitress did greet us fairly quickly, but had to re-check what we had ordered (I guess she didn't write it down?) 10 minutes after we ordered. Then, we had ordered a 14inch Margarita Pizza. They had run out of 14 inch crusts so we could have the 12 and our bill would be adjusted. In the end, pretty glad we Didn't have that 14! The pizza was barely covered in sauce. There was 1 very, very thin slice of tomato on each piece. There was hardly any mozzarella evident. Certainly not on each piece - more like a little splatter on 3/4 pieces. The Basil was cut in small pieces and put over the top afterwards. The crust was just doughy. It was cooked - but certainly not what you'd expect from a 'wood-fired crust'. There was no 'crust' - just doughy. I tried to at least eat the toppings - but there wasn't enough topping on the whole thing to fit in the palm of my hand. Hubby ate about 1/2 the 'crust' since he was hungry. Upon getting our plates the waitress asked how it was and I told her (what I am writing here). She replied, " you ordered a Margarita Pizza". I said, yes, because we like them and that is our typical go to everywhere we go. She tried to tell me that their pizza was the typical Margarita Pizza - um, No! She was very defensive about the criticism. Upon getting our bill she charged us for a 14" pizza. We had to tell her it was incorrect. She never apologized for anything. The only thing good was my glass on wine....
Read moreUpdate: Sadly, there's been a lot of turnover here. The chef is different and so is the food. It is ok but lacks the flavor that it used to have. The bread is also different; it used to be more like focaccia and now it is closer to pita bread. Even the way the vegetables are prepared in the oven is not the same. Hopefully the new folks figure things out.
This restaurant puts Green Valley on the map. Everything we had was excellent. Food properly cooked in a wood fired oven is delightful and Brindis delivers,
The Mediterranean sea bass was exceptional. It was perfectly complemented by a pureed mix of herbs, seasoning, and olive oil - subtle yet complex without overpowering the fish. The fire roasted vegetables were so flavorful. Even the salad that it came with was excellent. The lamb shish kebab was also nicely seasoned, did not taste gamy, and had a hint of liver (which I love).
We finished the meal with some of the best baklava - not too sweet yet very tasty.
The staff was courteous, attentive, and speedy. Atmosphere wise, they are still making improvements; they will get it nailed down in time.
I highly recommend Brindis. We definitely have to come back to try the...
