Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican — Restaurant in Four Corners States

Stopped in yesterday for our second visit since the opening of this new location. My whole family loves Café Rio and are weekly regulars at QC location, so were super excited to have this one much closer to home. Our first visit was a dine-in visit and everything was outstanding. The stuff were very friendly, not the usual angry/annoyed teenagers who seem put out by having to do their job that you commonly find in the food industry these days. The food was great and consistent with what we have come to expect. Our second visit this past weekend was disappointing and perhaps a lesson learned. We were doing takeout this go around, so ordered most of our food on the app, except for mine because I wanted some options that can’t seem to be ordered through the app. So I went through the line and had mine made when picking up. We got the food home and the salads ordered on the app were nothing like the one that was ordered in person. Mine looked like what we have come to expect from Café Rio. The other four salads were very disappointing. Compared to mine they looked like half salads. Significantly less of everything, especially meat. They REALLY skimped. A couple of salads were also made wrong. I wish I had thought to take a picture. Not sure what happed here but the lesson we took away was that if you want it made right and to usual standards and expectations, you need to watch it being made so things don’t get skimped on. My experience at this location was amazing! My husband and I (both with backgrounds in the service industry) often talk about how the service industry has gone so far downhill in the past 5 years, and this experience restored my faith a little 😅. I ordered online and showed up to the store a little early. I had multiple people ask if I needed anything and provide me updates on my order (without me asking). I was offered multiple samples and even a beverage as I waited. My food came out right around the time it should have. The food (what I ordered as well as the samples) was great. We have struggled with getting good service and consistent quality at other cafe rio locations, around the valley and at locations in Utah. It’s too often hit or miss. I was delighted and pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality, presentation, and cleanliness of this establishment. Everyone there was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and polite, which made for a wonderful dining experience. They offer a wide variety of fresh ingredients to choose from when ordering, whether it be a burrito, quesadilla, bowl, enchiladas, tostada, or taco. Everything in our food tasted incredibly fresh and was cooked to perfection. The temperature of the food was just right, neither too cold nor too hot. There are plenty of delicious drink options available, from the soda fountain to specialty juices and teas. I would definitely return to this establishment and try something new...
