This is our third yr coming up to solitude staycation for Christmas. We always eat at least one dinner or 2 here and this yr Christmas Eve menu was the most amazing we have ever had, though it was $100/ person pre-set, the other days are not, but you get a buffet and main course and dessert. (You may need to call ahead to find out what the menu entails for this holidays) Had the lobster bisque and it’s the second best place I’ve had in 25 years. Way too many restaurants puree the lobster and it’s ashamed! Because you want to taste the chunks of lobster and this place did NOT disappoint! Lobster bisque was creamy with loads of chunks of claws and lobster meats.I also had roasted salmon and loved the flavor with a touch of charred crispy bits and salmon was perfect temperature and not over/under cooked. Really enjoyed it here. Wished they would have crème brûlée, the chocolate torte was way too sweet and Rich. This yrs apple pie and ice cream was our favorite - in yrs past the apple pie was cold and and not well made but this yrs menu items was perfect aside from the chocolate torte- not my favorite. My issue was with the stir-fry noodle and veggie bowl that was recommended by the waitress… she recommended adding chicken, which we did. The additional protein prices weren’t listed (and we should’ve asked) but we were shocked when the check came and it had almost doubled the price… oh, and the $29 bowl also came bathed in way too much teriyaki sauce. Plus my beef stew was basically just beef and carrots (no other veggies to speak of)… tasty beef, but I’d have preferred they actually serve the variety of veggies listed...
Read moreIf you're going to stay here at the Solitude Resort, you must come and dine at St Bernards! Located just inside the Solitude Inn, this place was our top rated dining spot in the entire Village! Every item that we ordered, was incredible. All 3 of us were in agreement of how we felt about this place... and our meals. The environment is very nice but not pompous, a wonderful fireplace burning, a lively bar, a quiet "library bar" off to the side, and very high ceilings with awesome light penetrating in all rooms. Our servers were very friendly and accommodating, while wearing large smiles with every visit to our table. And those portion sizes..lots of leftovers walked back with us to our room. What a wonderful experience and pleasant surprise to finish our perfect day skiing here...
