I have to say, we were extremely disappointed last night visiting this restaurant and for the first time based on friends recommending it. We will not be back based on our experience, mainly the poor service.
We arrived around 7:45 PM and were sat immediately (party of 5). 10 minutes went by and we had no waitress visit us. A man (who appeared to be a food runner) saw us looking around for a server and asked if we had been helped yet to which we replied no. He offered to get us drinks while we waited and promptly brought them to the table. Another 10 minutes goes by and we still haven't been visited by a waitress. To make mention, this restaurant was not packed or understaffed. We saw multiple waitresses come around our area but never look at us.
It was when the couple sitting next to us sat down, was greeted by a waitress, and started to order food that we grabbed the waitress and voiced our complaint that we were sitting for 20 minutes without anyone coming to our table. She was very polite and apologized saying she saw drinks at the table and assumed someone was already our waitress and expressed concern that the food runner never told her we were waiting on someone. You could tell by observing the while waiting that this restaurant was not very organized.
She quickly ordered us some appetizers and those came out fairly fast. We ordered the Blue Crab and Fried Green Tomatoes along with the Cajun Chips and Queso and our table enjoyed both. The problem was when she came back to the table for us to order the main course. We asked how the Cajun Baked Seafood Medley was and to our shock, she said it was disgusting and then asked another waitress her opinion on this item to which she agreed with the same disgust. Baffled...from a business perspective, it's a very bad sign when your employees openly degrade the food they are serving so we immediately were hesitant to order anything for fear of it not being good.
We waited...and waited...and waited for our food to arrive. During that time, our drinks were not filled up and when one of us finally got the waitress and asked for a refill, she only refilled that drink and did not look to see the rest of the table also needed their drinks refilled.
We finally got our food and none of us enjoyed what we had except for one (The Peacemaker). Everything from it being overcooked, over salted, weird herbs/spices, etc. Now the taste thing is a personal preference so I wont knock the dish I had (Bourbon Street Fettuccine) - I just wasn't a fan of the spice or herb they put in it - very much like eating perfume but it was cooked well.
Around the time our food arrived, we started to be served by what appeared to be the manager who was very friendly and polite. Extremely hesitant to order dessert after the meal but we decided to try it anyway and got the Fried Cheesecake (which was decent) and the Beignets which the table enjoyed. Nothing special about them but good.
Although our waitress was very nice as was the manager, this establishment lacks communication and organization - and some professionalism regarding the degrading of the food. It bothered us enough not to return and take the time to write this review. After reading some of the reviews on here, it appears others have been frustrated at the service as well so if this business reads this, I would HIGHLY recommend re-evaluating your restaurant communicates to prevent first and last...
Read moreCajun Steamers of Franklin you BROKE my HEART!!! I have been a loyal customer since 2009. I drive from Murfreesboro to enjoy your food and the atmosphere. I have recommended you to so many of my friends and family. Saturday's dining experience was not your best!!!!
I arrived with my family around 3:45pm. It was not crowded and we found a seat by the window. Service was slow. Our waitress Susan showed up and took our drinks and appetizer order. Appetizer arrived then we placed our main orders: kids catfish, crawfish mac, dozen raw oysters and seafood platter for 2. After that things went downhill. We waited and waited and waited and waited for our foods to arrive. I watched the restaurant fill up with more customers. I even watched the tables nearby get seated and served. One of the tables nearby even had a set of guest sit, eat, and leave and then another set of guests sat in their place and ordered and receive food. That was very upsetting to me!!!!
Susan finally came by and apologized saying that our ticket order printed behind the bar instead of the back. The manager came by and offered complimentary beignets as an apology. That still does not make up for the fact that we felt like we had been forgotten. We were there at 4pm and customers that came after us were served before us!!!
The food, however, is delicious as always. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection!!! We enjoyed our seafood platter sauced. The kids loved their meal!!!
The service was not so wonderful this time.....this is the 1st time I have received such poor service here. We finally paid for our meal and left at 5:48pm. Think I'll stay away for a while...maybe I'll try Cajun Steamers again next year.
Sincerely, Your loyal customer...
Read moreHad my first visit today and it was really great! Service was excellent, and the weather was fantastic so I enjoyed the outdoor seating VERY much! I came with the intention of trying the Gumbo, but couldn't resist the Royal Reds and a salad with house made spicy ranch dressing. The Royal Reds are easy to overcook and most of these were perfectly steamed and delicious--served with drawn butter and cocktail sauce(great together). The bacon, croutons, and radishes made a wonderful crunch to the soft lettuce and cheese. And the salad was vibrantly colored and fresh. AND they let me exchange the corn and potatoes for stunning and colorful steamed vegetables seasoned perfectly! Great meal! I may come back tomorrow to try the Gumbo!
And I see management reads all these reviews which is impressive! I just have one question. I saw a beautiful picture of a bowl of shrimp and grits. But one thing disturbed me and I'm hoping for an answer back on this. The shrimp were clearly not deveined. Now of course that is expected on peel and eat, but would be disturbing in a prepared dish requiring no prep work by the customer. I watch food shows daily, and any chef on every one of the competition shows would be scolded for this. Please let me know your position on this as it will impact what I...
