Casa Jose — Restaurant in Franklin

The service was the only bright side of this place. Very nice staff, helpful, quick, professional. The beans were what I expect from a Mexican food place. My wife is Mexican, she knows good quality food. I know good food. For starters, this place does not have horchata, a traditional ricemilk drink with cinnamon. I have found this simple barometer of how authentic a place is. Casa Jose has NO horchata. Red flag. Ok, I'm with family, I'll let it slide. Chips taste like they were from an old 5lb bag of Food City chips. Salsa was prolly on the same aisle in a jar. No creativity or effort was put into any of the food. The beef enchilada was most likely from frozen ground beef taco mixture, wrapped in a tortilla, no cheese whatsoever. ENCHILADAS HAVE CHEESE. For the price, I like Jack n the box tacos. 2 for .99 and this place's taco was far far worse. I felt bad that i was spending my hard earned money for this, when i could make better without trying, and this place is CHARGING for this food. This needs to be on Restaurant Rescue or some similar reality show. Scrap the menu, ban them from using a microwave, invest in some quality cheese, teach homemade sauces, grab some quality cooking spices, and start fresh. Read the ELOTE CAFE cookbook for inspiration. We have been to Casa Jose twice! Both times were fantastic! (I waited to write this to be more sure this is how things are on the regular)

Service: From the jump, at the door, very pleasant and kind! Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. On the way out, again, friendly and pleasant as if we had dinner at their home! We felt welcomed and a warm greeting from everyone we interacted with!

They accommodated my food allergy questions and were very kind about it! It is one of only a few places I can eat out at and they made me feel welcome in asking! A truly rare find!

Food: The food is fantastic! Everything we’ve ordered and our friends have ordered has been on point! A very authentic, detailed menu with so many options! There are so many gems on the menu, we can’t wait to come back! Their sauces and meats so far have all scored an A+ from us!

Atmosphere: The bathrooms were clean! Everything has been clean both times, and that is much appreciated, especially at a place that has so many guests on a regular basis, they truly take pride in their restaurant and reputation!

We will be back many times I am sure! Looking forward to...

It was our first visit to the place on Sunday the environment is so cozy and relieving and the service was great. We were so excited to order but our toddler got so fussy and started to make a scene which made us leave before ordering to preserve the nice environment for the rest of the guests. Although we hadn't gotten the chance to experience the tasty food except the welcome salsa and chips which was so fresh and well seasoned but the smell of the food was so nice. The administration was very friendly and supportive to our situation and refused to let my husband pay for the salsa and chips. We are planning to visit the place soon.
