Super friendly, super knowledgeable, super helpful. I'm an intermediate knitter - and have bought yarn all over the US and the UK. I've been in several shops that won't help if they didn't sell you the yarn (esp in NYC - avoid them!). This is definitely not the case at Silver Threads! Unless things are really crazy (and that does happen) they are more than willing to help and lend a hand. The Thursday Knit Night 4-7 is attended by knitters and crocheters of all levels and there is expert help available. Great classes are offered during the year - all with terrific, helpful instructors. Without a doubt, the most helpful shop I've ever been in. This is a delightful yarn store with an impressive variety of yarns, many hand dyed. The young lady who was working the day I visited had excellent customer service skills and was very knowledgeable. I am an experienced knitter but didn't understand some directions on a pattern and she explained them to me. She even wound all the yarn I purchased. There were so many choices and possibilities, I took my time deciding on yarn and projects. I never felt pressured but she checked on me often. I'm used to be nicely treated in crafting stores. I do woodworking, I bake, I draw, I play music... And folks usually treat you pretty well in those environments. But I have never been quite as well treated as I've been in Silver Threads & Golden Needles. They have an awesome selection of yarns and needles for a very good price and the best part is that they go above and beyond to help you with your project!
