Another fresh option when looking to eat out and healthy is Vui’s. Vietnamese flavors have been influenced by many Asian countries as well as the French so Vui’s offers flavors similar to Chinese and Thai food. The pho which is a bone broth soup is both tasty and healthy and is also made with vegan broth. I had the original pho and the 12 hour bone broth in my opinion is the star. It had a richness to it and I know it’s healthy. The protein choices (ribeye beef or chicken), rice noodles and healthy vegetables make for a filling and delicious soup. The salad (Vui’s bowl) with the pork belly (tofu, egg, chicken, ribeye steak, mushrooms are other proteins) was delicious and the meat was very tender and tasty. They have three choices of dressings and I went with the honey citrus vinaigrette (Chile lime and creamy citrus dressing other options) very much to my liking. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the summer rolls with shrimp. I could eat them for every meal. The rice paper holds together an incredible amount of flavors. With each bite you taste shrimp, fresh mint, cucumber, carrots, noodles, scallion and arugula. I could drink the peanut sauce that comes with it it’s that good. We had the coconut pudding for dessert and I really like a tapioca so it was perfect. Light and had the sweet coconut flavor with peanuts and chia seeds on top. Nice texture combinations. Vui’s has plenty of seating inside as well as tables outside so it’s a great place to bring your dog too! Looking forward to exploring more items on the menu. A...
Read moreThe reason for three stars is primarily about customer service. When the food was ordered I was very clear that I did not want cilantro in any of the items as I do not like the taste of cilantro, but when my pho came out it was loaded with cilantro (in addition to scallions) and I had to bring it back and they stated that it was scallions when I know the difference between what scallions and cilantro look like. The replacement bowl that came out was skimpier than the original bowl and did not include the jalapenos or the scallions, and when I requested jalapenos they weren't brought out in a cup, but rather in the server's hand that was at least in a glove. We also ordered the pork belly bao appetizer, but that came out with the soup and the rice bowl instead of as a first course and that thankfully did not have cilantro because that came out after I had returned the bowl of pho. The other reason for the three stars is that the pho was rather bland tasting despite the menu stating that it was a 23-hour broth. It really needed the addition of the hoisin sauce and the chili sauce that are on the tables. It's a shame that the food was not what I was hoping for as it's pretty convenient to where I live, the menu item descriptions are fantastic, and the establishment is very bright and clean, but I guess I need to get my pho...
Read moreI was really hoping the review I read on this being far from traditional was just blown put of proportion but they're on the money. Just not even close to traditional pho.
Ordered their traditional pho and here are my thoughts:
I find it outrageous they charge premium for steak for such a small portion cuts to meekly float on the bowl. The broth was bland and missing flavor, no body to be found in that soup. Noodles were light and tasteless, was just all over the place and no where near the "traditional" sense. I was hoping to see some tripe and other meats normally found in pho but they were not available and by my short interaction in the menu, not something you can buy as an add-in.
I also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee, hoping to jump start my day since I love getting them at pho places. That was a mistake, flavor was diluted at best, missing that powerful kick in the face it normally has which was a huge dissapointment to me.
I understand this is a new take, and it's definitely not catered to someone like me. I just had a pho craving and now I know this place isn't for me.
Their service was fast and friendly but the food was not something I enjoyed. First time I left a bowl mostly full.
If you prefer "light" pho you will enjoy it here, otherwise I could not, would not, recommend...
