So Valentines week is also my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. To be blunt, our dining experiences in Frederick's fancy, trendy restaurants over the past 7 years (pre, during, and post Pandemic) have been mostly lackluster. In my opinion it's due to overreaching and establishments duping customers into believing that inflated prices equal a premium experience.
ANYWAYS, my wife picked Gladchuk Bros. for her birthday dinner this year. All the lifetime Frederick locals I talked to in the kitchen I work in rolled their eyes and kinda insinuated it mostly catered to a much older clientele, but nobody had been there recently.
My wife and I made a reservation for 6:00 and got there and got seated early. We ordered a spiced pear vodka drink. Appetizers were jumbo lump crab stuffed mushrooms, oysters Rockefeller, and the roasted beet salad. For entrees we ordered the crab stuffed cod for her and sautéed chicken livers for me. I didn't see options for sides and both of our entrees came with a perfectly steamed fresh vegetable blend and homemade scalloped potatoes. It was hands down the best dining experience we have had in Frederick. In fact, we had a hard time remembering a better experience anywhere.
First, the food was all simple ingredients and lightly seasoned but all cooked perfectly. I cook professionally and can't help myself by making notes of how a dish can be improved next time (especially when it's something I've made). I had no notes on ANYTHING we ordered. It was all perfect. In fact, I got visible goosebumps when I tried my chicken livers. I like chicken livers just fine, but I never thought they would be part of such a great dining experience. The food was perfect.
Our server was attentive without being invasive. He was polite and knew what he was doing. We always try our best to be low maintenance, so we didn't have a bunch of questions. Again, perfect.
As far as the atmosphere, I can't remember the last time I ate somewhere this COZY. A hearth in the entryway. Comfortable lighting without being dark. Bookshelves, fun artwork, and classy vibes leaning far more towards laid back than stuffy. It made us both nostalgic for nice family dinners out from our childhoods. Makes sense since Gladchuk Bros. has been here since 1988.
To say this is a strong reccomend is an understatement. The price of everything matches up with quality and comfort. It's a no-nonsense elevated dining experience that I feel people need to revisit.
PS - We were there on a Tuesday night at 6:00. They were filling up by the time we left. Make a...

My wife & I had dined here over 20 years ago, thought we’d try lunch today! Brent was the Host who offered us any table. He handed us the menus, explained the specials, then offered to whip up our drinks ( as the multi-talented Bartender)! 😃👍🏼
Several other diners entered the restaurant, and were greeted by Brent! As we waited, I walked around to take photos of this restaurant. . . Quickly noticed that REAL flowers were in a vase on each table in the restaurant. A practice few restaurants are willing to provide these days. My Raspberry & Lime margarita arrived, as did my wife’s Raspberry & Lime seltzer tonic ! Refreshing and tasty on both counts!
After a few minutes Brent returned with 2 fresh baked raisin rolls. Slightly warm , and the butter melted quickly when applied! Then Brent delivered my appetizer, warm homemade Maryland crab soup! The white cream soup was delicious! I complimented Brent on his timing. . . just as I finished my Maryland Cream of Crab Soup, he delivered my Turkey with homemade gravy & Stuffing, w/walnuts, homemade cranberry sauce , and medley of vegetables! All hot , delicious, and delightful! My wife loved her Turkey croissant , with stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy!
Geez, stuffed to the gills! We asked for a piece of the Raspberry layer cake with coconut frosting in a carry out container! Wow, that was fresh, moist, and delicious!
Thanks 🙏🏻 and A+ to Head Chef John for a wonderful lunch today! The service was fantastic, kudos to Brent our multi-faceted staff guru ! We’ll definitely return for future culinary...

I almost never write a review but this dinner experience was an exception.
If you appreciate attention to detail then this is a restaurant that you must make time to go and enjoy. It is rare to find a restaurant where everything is made from scratch from the beginning to the end of the meals and... the service was great. But I am getting ahead of myself. The experience begins when you approach this beautifully decorated cottage restaurant. Complete with manicured mums, marigolds and haystacks this cottage says that it is ready for the new season. And the interior is just as complete with a beautiful fireplace and everything that you would expect in a German countryside home.
We knew the meal was going to be amazing when the basket of warm rolls with raisins and sweet whipped butter arrived. The Chocolate Martinis and the Cosmopolitans were a perfect start too.
We shared Oysters Rockefeller that were fresh and plump topped with flavorful creamed spinach. The handmade onion Pierogis were light and fluffy, the best that we have ever had. That is a huge statement to make since some of the women in our party had mothers from Poland and Italy, truly great cooks. The Chicken Cordon Bleu, the Liver and Onions, the Sauerbraten and the Fried Oysters went beyond our expectations. The oysters were fried perfectly, juicy, crunchy and packed with flavor. The sauerbraten was so tender with a hint of ginger. Two of the ladies were raving about the liver and onions...and ate the leftovers on the drive back to Baltimore. The accompaniments were amazing too! Even the coffee...
