It's like a tale of two worlds here. The good first: the food was good. The pork soup dumplings were definitely the highlight and all the other dishes passed muster as well. Mostly classic American style Chinese food but everything was done alright. The bad: essentially everything else. We came in and sat ourselves and immediately noticed a mass of people just milling about waiting for to-go orders. Eventually we went to the counter to order for eat-in though I'm still not clear if we needed to. Some tables had service others did not. We had to repeat and reconfirm our order multiple times and at one point they brought us someone else's to go order and then needed to retake order for 2/3 of us at the table. The interior was a mess with tables sitting unbussed and uncleaned, the entire place looks like it could use a power washing and once tables filled up it was a good 5-10 degrees hotter inside than out even with their front door open (which also meant bugs everywhere inside). As decent as the food was I can't see myself coming back. We saw people leave without ordered, takeout mixups that left people without their food and just so much disorder that I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone else.

So I have had the Crazy Dumpling on my list to go to for a while. I will admit I didn't do any research before we went besides what other locals have posted, and I just assumed that it would be a whole bunch of dumplings and maybe some other food. I was not expecting it to just be a traditional Chinese food menu with a section for dumplings. But we went ahead and ordered anyway, hoping for the best. We ordered pan-fried House special dumplings, steamed pork buns, and sesame chicken. We just shared everything and I have to say it was fantastic. We were sitting around and talking for a while and got hungry again so we ordered chicken lo mein. This is the best lo mein I have ever had. It was not greasy or oily like most lo meins. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were crisp. It was a light brown color, not a dark brown lo mein like you see at other places. It tasted very fresh and light. We are not really close to this location but the next time that I want Chinese food I will come here.

Crazy Dumplings was a treat. We planned it as a quick stop on the way home, but it became a small culinary adventure. The dumplings were little parcels of joy, obviously homemade and as if they were gently pinched shut by a benevolent dumpling spirit. The mala from the Dan Dan noodles and Mapo tofu was a welcome kind of numbing - just what I needed as dinner conversation centered around the current state of our world. Lastly, the chicken with string bean was delicious: each bite imbuing a burst of succulence, fortifying us for the road ahead and shepherding us gently into the next leg of our journey. The patio also welcomed my pup, who promptly claimed a throne in the shade of the banana leaves, surveying our feast like a tiny jungle king. Crazy Dumplings filled our bellies and fed our souls. A beacon of delight along Route 1, it earned a permanent pin on our map… a roadside ritual waiting for us each time we wander south.

This is genuinely one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Looking at the reviews and the ratings you would naturally think this place would be absolutely incredible and worth while right? No. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by nobody, presented with an extremely cramped, unclean, and awkward and uncomfortable environment. Every table was filled with dishes from past patrons and my party of two were forced to seat ourselves at a table for five. The only other option was a two person table crammed so tight that my chair was shoved into the back of another table occupied by people. Instead of them cleaning up one of the other tables, we were rudely moved and forced to sit in between two other tables that were occupied with no room to sit, talk, or move our arms. The service was really unfortunate. When coming to a place called “Crazy Dumpling” you would naturally want to try the 4.4 out of 5 stared dumplings right? My girlfriend and I got three orders of dumplings; The soup dumplings, the pork dumplings, and the house special dumplings (which was just shrimp and pork assorted dumplings.) The older woman who was taking our order glared at us, and extremely rudely and judgmentally said, “ really that’s it? You’re only getting 3 orders of dumplings really?” She huffed and puffed and walked off. When these dumplings came out I can genuinely say these were the worst dumplings we have ever had. Every single one we ordered pan fried. But when they came out they were mushy, alarmingly watery, and tasted not so good. I genuinely wish there was a redeeming quality for this place because we wanted so bad for this to be our new spot that we went to all the time. Unfortunately I can guarantee we will never be coming back or ordering again. Honestly, I will make an effort to tell anyone that says they’re going to this place, not to go and go somewhere else. After we left my girlfriend got sick and began throwing up everything we had eaten. All of the dumplings tasted like cloudy dish water. The unpleasantness of the dining area was insane. Silent, awkward, and no music at all. It felt like nobody in there was allowed to talk because they would be speaking to everyone in the establishment. When we were rudely forced to sit at the worst placed table, there was genuinely no other way we could fit so she shoved my chair into the walkway and did not even think to clean off one of the other tables. She didn’t have to clean off all of them, she could have asked us to wait one second and cleaned one of the ones off that was placed somewhere that wasn’t directly in someone else’s back, face, and...

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now as I have always had a fascination with Chinese dumplings, but I definitely regret my decision now. Let me start with the good part first. The food actually tasted delicious and authentic; however, the service and the atmosphere was very much lacking, in fact, some of the worst I have seen in a long time. The server was not courteous and made many mistakes. I ordered four items and only received three yet all four items were on the final bill. One of the main things I came for, the steamed dumplings, I never received. I received no plates or silverware, the tables were dirty and in disarray, and the floor was messy. It has the potential be a very charming place , but sadly such was wasted. And it wasn't all the servers fault as a person who appeared to be the lady owner was also very unprofessional. She brought my steamed buns to the table on a small plate with all of them turned topsy turvy and basically shoved the plate at me. She probably trained the server! They appeared to be busy not only with dine-in customers, but also with takeout orders. Their problem was not having enough employees to properly run this establishment. I could on with several other problems which occurred during this visit, but I believe you already get the idea. Personally, I would much rather go spend my money at the nearby Miso Asian Grill & Sushi Bar which has excellent food along with exceptional, unwavering service...

Terrible service, okay food. It was clear that the primary waitress had no experience waiting tables. My girlfriend and I initially ordered two small appetizers to share along with waters for each of us. The waters never arrived, even after both appetizers until we flagged down the waitress and reminded her that we had asked for them.

After giving us our appetizers the waitress took our menus. We were a little confused since we had yet to order entrees, but we assumed that our waitress would come back and we could ask for another menu then. We were wrong. We finished our appetizers and waited for about 15 minutes for the waitress to check on us and she never did. She never came to ask how the food was, to refill our waters (which were empty), to ask if we wanted to order anything else, or to even give us our bill!

After those 15 minutes we gave up and walked up to the register where the female waitress simply stared at us before blurting out the price of our bill. Apparently she just expected us to know to come up to the counter and pay when we were done (but we weren't, we still wanted to order more food)! Which we didn't by the way - we instead just paid the bill and left.

Overall, the food wasn't terrible. The beef and onion dumpling was actually quite tasty, but was overshadowed by the abysmal service. If you plan to dine in here I would advise against it. For takeout you might be okay though the menu is hit or miss as our other appetizer...
