Do NOT be fooled by the modest interior and exterior. This is definitely a "Don't judge a book by its cover" type of places.
I was introduced to this place by a friend while I went to MWC right across the street. This place quickly became my favorite restaurant in Fredericksburg. The place has a very cozy feel and it hasn't be redecorated in about 30 years which adds to the charm. Don't let the age fool you, it is super clean and well maintained inside. I mean freakishly clean, seriously peek behind the counter and take a look in the kitchen. The bathrooms are spotless as well, I mean pristinely clean. It is a family owned restaurant and they will quickly learn their regulars and they are always friendly.
Their gyros, souvlaki, and pasta dishes are out of control good and you will quickly forget that delivery pizza even existed. Their pizza is hands down the best you will get in the area and is still in my top 2 favorite pizza places ever. I basically haven't ever had anything bad on the menu, and I've probably tried almost all of it. Their baklava is great as well.
Manny and Sophia are lovely people who genuinely care about their establishment, reputation and the food that they serve. They work so incredibly hard.
There is a reason why this place has been there forever, try it out and you...
Read moreThe food was decent but the older lady that must own this restaurant was ridiculous. My husband and I took our younger children for dinner for the first time here tonight and this lady would not leave us alone and wouldn't stop telling me how to parent my kids. I couldn't move the cheese shaker by my kids I had to keep it at the end of the table. She brought extra Napkins and told me to put them by my kids. She brought us more placemats and told me to put them under my kids plates. She kept moving my cup and rearranging the food on our table. When she brought the food for my kids she wouldn't give it to my kids (and the plates weren't even hot). She told my kids to use spoons. She pretty much hovered over us while we ate and kept telling me what I should do. Also let it be known my kids did not make a mess while eating, they used their manners, and ate quietly and I made sure to clean up the plates before we left. They were not a problem in the restaurant. This place claims to be family friendly but they are not! They don't like young kids in their restaurant. Will not...
Read moreStill here after all these years. Still run by Manny and Sophia. My wife and I had our first date here 29 years ago. The food is still fresh and delicious. I forgot to take pictures of the food because, well, I was too excited that it was still owned and run by the same people. That is a testament to the food here. Made with love. Sophia said to us she can’t believe they have been doing this so long. Again, when work does not feel like work, you add your pride and your passion then end result will be positive. The decoration has barely changed since the 80s and 90s. Some may be turned off. Don’t be. You will be rewarded. We came at early lunch hour and there was a good turnout while we were there. The Meatball Parmigiana I got was made fresh, hot and delicious. My wife had souvlaki and the pork was tender and delicious. We decided to get 2 gyros to go because everything was as we remembered. We even got baklava for desert. I did remember to take a photo. Sweet but not overly sweet and...
