Kumo Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Fredericksburg

This was probably my fourth visit to this restaurant. My child and I met up with a friend for lunch. The owner of the restaurant was waiting on our table. We decided to go with the all you can eat sushi menu. The waitress brought out a piece of paper that listed all the items available for ordering. I asked the waitress for a separate order sheet, because I’m pregnant, I needed to order my fully cooked items separately. The waitress proceeded to argue that I did not need my own order sheet. She eventually agreed to bring me my own order sheet. Upon the arrival of our order, she proceeded to harass me because I gave my four year old three pieces of sushi. I was only then informed, that children can not participate in all you can eat and that I needed to place a side order of sushi for my child. I placed a side order for a California roll. The waitress returned to asked if I actually wanted her to bring out the California roll, that I ordered for my child. I wasn’t sure what to make of that question. I’m assuming that she wanted the three pieces of sushi, that I had previously fed my child, to count as the side order California roll. All in all, the sushi was not bad. We lived in Japan for several years, so the sushi on their menu isn’t anything to write home about. While they do offer a lot of variety on their menu, the sushi seems to lack flavor. Buyer beware...Service horrible, and for my black brothers and sisters, think twice before you patronize this restaurant. I have been going to this place for years, I keep returning because the sushi all-you-can-eat is tolerably, especially after get physically sick at Sushi King in Stafford/Fredericksburg Va area and because our options are few and far between in this area. Normally, would come by myself but on one occasion I took my wife there for a date. The waitress/owner was rude as usual and openly corrected me and my wife after she thought we would leave one piece of sushi when we asked for a check. Without saying this was a turn off but it does states that they would charge for any excessive leftovers. I left one, and ate it before I left... Today I stopped by just to try it out again and I witness a Caucasian family leave a TON of food after ordering from this same buffet sushi menu. This same lady (waitress) didn't say a mumbling word. I confronted her about how she approach my wife and I, in which she began to stumble on her words and attempted explain to me the policy, I told her please be fair to everyone...this is the garbage we as a nation have to correct, before we can have any real talks about peace and equality. I will not return, if you cannot respect me, you will not...

Update: The food is still amazing but I've learned as a repeat all you can eat customer that one of the servers we've had gets more unfriendly every time we visit. I'm not sure why, as we tip well and aren't rude. We do order a lot of food but we are obviously paying for all you can eat so I don't see the issue in that. Anyways, we've had her the past two or three times we visited and she didn't smile when she greeted us or try to appear friendly at all. We won't stop going, but hope that we don't get her next time since it kind of becomes a distraction to have an unfriendly waitress.

Original review: Best sushi in Fredericksburg and definitely best for your money. I haven't had any issues with ordering the all you can eat sushi and was already acquainted with the fact that if you order too much you have to pay for it since they can't just throw it away. They also inform you of this when ordering. Staff are friendly and chefs are obviously skilled. Food is fresh. Was satisfied with sushi, appetizers, desserts and soups. Have been coming here for months now and have never been unsatisfied with service or food.
