I used to love this place when George owned it. I went to dinner with my son tonight. We noticed as soon as we walked in there was some kind of drama amongst the employees. We ordered appetizers and a Georges special. The few tables around us were just getting their drinks when we arrived and placed our order. The table next to ours was 2 older ladies that loved to laugh and crack jokes.. We soon were laughing right along with them. Everyone had gotten their appetizers and their pizzas except us. I decided to go outside to smoke. I took my phone to play on, cigarettes and iced tea. I made eye contact with one of the employees as I grabbed my tea and walked out the door. I lit my cigarette, leaned against the building and was playing a game when the same employee came out the door. Never closing the door as not to embarrass me and saidv "You can't take that drink outside" I was confused and said "It's iced tea." She replied "Yeah but u could put something in it and we would be responsible" So I said "OK HERE YA GO!" Handed her the iced tea and walked away. The whole restaurant was staring through the plate glass windows. I was so embarrassed. When I walked back in, everyone turned to stare at me again. I sat at the table with my son, the lady next to us said to me "You got in trouble didn't ya? They are on the war path today. I told her how I felt and resisted the urge to cause a scene. The same woman was cooking our pizza. She looked at me and yelled across the restaurant " You pizza is toasting now. It won't be much longer" I nodded. We got our appetizers and continued to wait for the pizza. By the time we got our pizza the restaurant had almost cleared out. 730 on a Friday night! Our Georges special looked like a straight up onion, extra onion and don't forget the onion pizza. You could see a few slices of green pepper. I immediately stood up, took a spare plate and started shoveling onions off the pizza. I was told by the waitress that was a normal amount of onion. NO NO IT WAS NOT. I'm not exaggerating when I say there was upwards of 8-10 sliced onions on that pizza. So much for toasting it. The water from the onions destroyed the crust. The soggy, wet, uncooked in the center onion pizza was disgusting! I still resisted the urge to tell off the woman that sabotaged our pizza and embarrassed me. I went to the car while my son paid the bill. When my son got in the car. I said " Aren't you proud of me?" He said "For what not getting into an altercation with the dark haired lady" I said "Yeah!" He said "I didn't want to tell u. When that lady came back with your refill she slammed your drink on the table and everyone in the restaurant was looking at me" I told him she hadn't refilled it. She took it from me, a 52 yr old woman, as if I were a teenager trying to smuggle liquor into the school dance. Had I known she did that to him we would've left without getting the onion pizza and I'd have embarrassed the employee as she had done me. The best part of the trip was the 2 ladies beside us. George would be ashamed of that pizza with his name. Judging from the comments here the onion is a problem! By all means, go ahead and keep loading your pizzas down with them. The business that used to thrive there has been destroyed. By women that micro manage the guests with paranoid delusions. We WILL NOT...
Read moreIt's taken us this long to calm down to write this review! We stopped in 10/15/17.
Some of rudest people I've ever encountered. We drove in from KY and had to pass by this place. Hubby grew up going to this place back in the 80s. He and his brother LOVED stopping her as kids in high school.
W arrived about 6pm. We wanted to order a pizza. We were told they were out of pizzas. We were starving and exhausted from the 8 hour drive and still had another hour to woodbridge.
Got a calzone, 6" and 2 beers. There were several phone calls for TO Go and each of those got FULL Size pizzas.
I went up and asked how come they got full-size pizzas and we wanted to order one we were told"
Those are our regular standing sunday orders, if you wanted a full size you should have gotten here earlier. Who do you think you are?
after which the fat chick behind the counter, young gal and ball-headed dude all LAUGHED at me. Hubby came up and said he's been coming here for over 20 years.
Fat chick called him a LIAR and said they've only been in business for 10.
We left. NEVER again and I make a point at my booth at the Farmer's Market in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania to TELL EVERYONE about their rude, crude, demeaning, derogatory, and...
Read moreAs someone raised in Jersey, you know, good Pizza, the Fam and I purchased a home in the Lake of the Woods back in June. I've hit most of the pizza joints in the area, and all up to this point have been spazzatura! Leaving two more joints to visit - Georges and Bella Cucina. First up, Georges.
The decor is 100% perfect and could be used for a movie film spot for another Sopranos episode. All it's missing is a vintage Pac-Man arcade game in the corner. I seriously felt like I went back in time, amazing.
The Pizza was spot on. We got a large pie with onions, mushrooms, and sausage. The mozz had flavor, and it tasted very similar to either Grande or Galbani mozz. The sauce was not overpowering, and the crust had body. I usually prefer thin crust, but I enjoyed this crust, it was a great pizza. An actual test for a pizza is the next day after you properly heat it up on the stovetop with a bit of olive oil. FYI - don't EVER reheat next-day Pizza in the microwave, please!
This history - 40 years, that's pizza knowledge you can't learn. God willing, they are around for another 40 years!
I have traveled all over the world and had Pizza on every corner. George's Pizza is def in my Top 20 - bravo! 4...
