First time trying McAlister's: It's okay...
Overall, the service was good. They seemed busy and the food came out in a decent timeframe.
We ordered a Ruben with potato salad, French dip with Mac n cheese, sweet teas, brookie, and carrot cake.
The sandwiches were presented well and had a decent amount of meat, however they were lacking flavor big time. Both sandwiches were bland. The meat was soft but the only flavor there was salt. The meat cuts tasted super cheap and there wasn't much flavor to anything about them. The Ruben had no creaminess. It tasted like cheap salty meat with a side of sourness. The Ruben was one the weaker ones I've ever had. The French dip is the better of the two.
The Mac and cheese and potato salad say nothing fresh about it. They both look, taste, and feel super cheap and processed, nothing more. The Mac and cheese is your basic tv dinner style. The potato salad reminds me of basic store bought mustard potato salad.
Now I love carrot cake, but this was not it. Horrible carrot cake. The icing was slightly translucent, flavorless, no cream cheese flavor. It reminded me of eating corn syrup. The cake part was so bland and dry. I liked it had a good amount of nuts and carrots, but there was no spice or flavor to the cake. The back of the cake looked soggy. If you like carrot cake, do not order this. It was the worst thing we ordered.
The brookie was decent, no complaints, no compliments.
The sweet tea is decent but it tastes more half n half than other sweet teas we've tried.
The restaurant was generally clean and the service was good. The employees kept the place pretty tidy. Some of the tables were left super wet though. I feel like there should be a dry rag used after wiping them down so customers don't have to touch the chemicals used, and the wet spots left marks on the table making it look less clean.
It was a disappointing and no more than average experience. I probably won't come here often but I will most likely try them again...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I ordered from here via DoorDash. I ordered half of a vegetable spud, half of a five cheese melt, potato salad, Mac and cheese, and nachos. So apparently they were out of nachos and wrote no nachos on my receipt, I guess hoping I wouldnāt care that is someoneās dinner and I paid $10 for them. I was told I had to deal with DoorDash a headache who initially said they wouldnāt refund me. So the manager said they were out of nachos and I would have to wait 24 hours, come in, and then they would refund me. No solution for the $40 dinner I paid for tonight. A good restaurant would have called me and said we are out of nachos can we sub something. This has happen multiple times, no big deal. Not hereā¦I just want to know the kind set of the person who wrote no nachos on my receipt AFTER I paid for themā¦Now letās get to the food. I definitely canāt find any cheese on my 5 cheese melt. What is there is a paper thin chewy taste of plastic on rock hard bread. How do you mess up a cheese sandwich!? Itās God awful. The spud had a few things on it, it tastes like microwaved frozen vegetable mix thrown on a potato. The Mac and cheese is clearly frozen then defrosted like at Panera. Then the potato salad tastes like that super cheap āAmishā potato salad at Walmart where the potatoes donāt even tastes like potatoes because the expiration date is good through next year. Just the absolute worst. I live around the corner and have been looking forward to their opening. I eat out everyday and thought it would be a great option for me when I get tired of Sonic and Chipotle. Hard pass, 0 out of 5 Stars. The witches brew lemonade was awful as well, and taste so beyond artificial and like vomit. Here is what $40 gets you, Iām attaching a photo, and of course of my āmessageā left to me about half...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm editing my review because a different manager independently reached out to me Aug. 3rd to apologize and let me know they have since thrown out and replaced any food in question.
I will not be eating here for the foreseeable future but I am pleased that actions were taken to ensure the food safety.

I ordered a Pecan Berry Salad on July 31st. I ate around 8:30pm and by 10:30pm I was vomiting profusely. It was the only food I ate all day. After enduring 3 hours of the worst sickness I have ever experienced I called this location the next day. I stated I was not looking for financial compensation, I didn't even need a refund. All I wanted was a confirmation that they checked the ingredients I was served so no one else got sick. I was told by the manager I would get a call back, I did not. I called a second time, restating that all I wanted was a confirmation that they had done literally anything to make sure their food was safe. The second manager I spoke to assured me I would be called back, I was not.
McAlister's DOES NOT CARE if you get a food borne illness from their establishment. As far as I know, they have continued to serve the same tainted food I ate to all of their customers.
I have missed 2 days of work, I had to cancel a weekend event I ALREADY PAID FOR and now I'm paying Dr's bills and looking at a hospital visit if my symptoms do not improve, and McAlister's can't even call me to tell me they checked their chicken.
I have filed a case with the Spotsylvania health department and McAlister's will never get a single penny from me again. I would HIGHLY caution anyone from eating at an establishment that so clearly has no regard for the health and safety of...
