I'm not even sure where to start... Well first let me say that the service was fantastic! Our waitress was so sweet! It was pretty clean too. The issue comes with the food. We spent over $70 and every bite was truly disgusting we didnt even eat half of what we ordered. Now we dont expect gourmet or fancy home cooked food from an IHOP but what we got was garbage. With the food shortages and the collapsing economy we expect for their to be some corner cutting and there definitely was some of that! I ordered chicken fried steak, eggs over medium and hashbrowns, coffee and cranberry juice. My meat was ice cold and had the tiniest dollop of gravy on top, the eggs were so undercooked you could see the mucous of the white without even having to cut into it. It was awful. My husband ordered one of the scrambles (I cant remember which one but it was spicy), hashbrowns, a side of bacon and orange juice. He said his was cold and chewy and the smallest amount of food possible for $15. The orange juice, if you can even call it that, was more of an Emergen-c flavor, not even as good as Tang (if you remember that stuff), just awful! The kids got pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage, apple juice and orange juice. They ate half of what they normally would but are too young to communicate what the issue was. We went to IHOP thinking that it would be fine to have a mediocre breakfast and get right in instead of a longer wait and spending more to go to our favorite Black Bear diner... well we were wrong!!!! We spent more and we wish we would have gotten mediocre food. We will never again complain about the wait times at our go to...
Read moreWell, when we walked in there were about 5-7 groups in front us. That was very surprising since the parking lot of only about half full. Looked around and stopped counting at 15 clean and open tables. The hostess said it would be about 20 minutes for a table. I thought that was odd considering how empty it was. Then thought well maybe they don't have staff for that section. That was not the case at all. The manager came up and told someone to fill all the tables. That person left, assuming went to break. Someone else came up and started seating groups very slowly. After about 30 minutes total waiting I interrupted a conversation between two hostesses. I asked what was taking so long to seat all the groups when there were so many open tables. She told me the manager said to seat one group ever 5-10 minutes. So we were waiting for no reason. The server was pleasant and did we good job.
Now onto the food. For only about half the tables full it took a surprisingly long time to get our food. No large groups not very busy. Not sure what's going on with that. The portions all seemed like they were off the kids menu. Seems the prices have gone up and the portions have gone down.
Being a brand new building and open less than a week I can understand some of the learning curve as all of the seating staff seemed to be very young and this might be their 1st job. But for a manager to tell them to wait that long to seat people is unbelievable. If they are trying to manage the work flow for the kitchen staff they should at least seat people and let the servers manage that with staggering...
Read morePretty good food, considering they used to be almost entirely breakfast focused.
I would start by saying that the menu has grown to a proportion that starts to give choice paralysis from decision fatigue. The size of the menu also gives some worry about the quality of the food as the cooks will have to worry about such a variety. This was evident in my burger.
The burger I ordered was well done, which is a little bit of a drag, but it didn't ruin it. I imagine a smaller and more concise menu would allow the cooks to spend more time making sure each item has the proper care.
The inclusion of various hot sauce types is a nice touch. As a spice lover, it's refreshing to have options other than plain old Tabasco.
The inclusion of gluten-friendly options is always nice to see, I'll be able to invite my friend with celiac here.
I'm a little confused by the IHXP partnership with Microsoft and Xbox. We didn't have game controllers to play video games in our booth, and the only effect we saw was the staff's t-shirt mentioning the partnership and the included printout on the table.
I think it's pretty rad that they do a pancake of the month, and it reminds us that this used to just be the House of Pancakes, (International).
Overall, the experience was a mixed bag. It was busy on a Sunday, which made the atmosphere noisy and busy, but I guess that just means that their business tactics are working. The staff were all friendly and attentive, the food tasted pretty decent, and they weren't at all upset about the fact that my friend wanted to stay longer than our meal to have our...
